The Raceday Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Ballysax Hank, ridden by K.E Buckley, and trained by Gavin Cromwell. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. K.E Buckley stated that his instructions were to drop his mount out as it has previously raced keenly. He added that his mount was again very keen and also jumped poorly today and the race was not run to suit. Gavin Cromwell stated that his charge wears a hood and can be very keen and to have any chance it must be dropped out and settled. He added that given how steadily the race was run he was satisfied with the ride. The Raceday Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Ballysax Hank was post race normal. Samples were taken for further analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanations given by Gavin Cromwell and K. E. Buckley. They did however remind K. E. Buckley of his responsibilities under Rule 212 to be seen to make timely, real and substantial effort, and informed him that he had been given the benefit of the doubt on this occasion. Furthermore the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that K. E. Buckley was in breach of Rule 213, in that he had failed to report in the first instance to the Clerk of The Scales anything that might have affected the running of his horse in a race, and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended K. E. Buckley for one raceday.
