197D Killarney Plaza Hotel & Spa H'capPrior to this race the Raceday Stewards enquired from Alan Cody, Authorised representative, into the circumstances surrounding the running of Nakasero, trained by H. de Bromhead, who was withdrawn yesterday citing change in going when todays going (yielding to soft, soft in places) was of a similar description to yesterdays (yielding to soft). Alan Cody said the plan had been to run the animal both days however the going description yesterday morning at 8:27am of good, good to yielding in places was not as soft as they would have liked for their animal. He added the trainer made the decision to withdraw the horse yesterday after the animal had left for the track and hoped that the forecast rain would come and soften the conditions for the animal today. In their opinion the horse is best suited by slower ground conditions. Evidence was also heard from the I.H.R.B. Senior Rules of Racing Handicapper Garry O'Gorman, who said going on form the horse acts on most ground conditions in his opinion the animal appears to favour a quicker surface. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation.
The Raceday Stewards fined Patrick Magee, trainer €65 for fitting cheek pieces to Goldrush Kid which had not been declared and ordered it’s removal.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Enchanted Garden, trained by Anthony Mullins, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have a skin graze on its left hind coronary band but was otherwise post race normal.
197E Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) H'capD.P. McDonogh, rider of Annie's Angel, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right early in the straight and then went left.
197F Executive Helicopters H'capThe Raceday Stewards interviewed J. Pietropaolo, rider of Arch Enemy, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who apologised for his whip use. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied the rider was in breach of R10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his clean record, they suspended him for three racedays J. Pietropaolo was accompanied in this enquiry by Dylan Browne McMonagle.
