Fairyhouse Meeting, 27th February 2013

353A Easter 31st March To 2nd April Mares Maiden Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Ballymac Lass, trained by Mr. Edward Cawley, was found to have a temperature post race.

353B Visit fairyhouse.ie For Special Offers Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Becauseicouldntsee, trained by N.F. Glynn, was found to have no abnormalities post race.

353E Ladbrokes Punter Package Handicap Hurdle & C.D. Maxwell, rider of Eddie Zero, trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a noise in the latter stages of this race.

353F Great Value Bobbyjo Packages Handicap Hurdle & D.N. Russell, rider of Shattered Dream, trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly in this race.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Shattered Dream at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal was blowing hard but was otherwise found to be post race normal.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Peace In The West, trained by F. Flood, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

353G Buy Easter Tickets On tickets.ie I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards interviewed Mr J.J. King, rider of the winner Apache Jack, concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr King was in breach of Regulation 10 3. (f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency.
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (16th March).

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Step One, trained by Patrick O. Brady, was found to be post race normal. The trainer subsequently reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have a poor blood count following a veterinary examination post race.

Thurles Meeting, 28th February 2013

The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of rider at this meeting:-.
Miss R. Blackmore rode Do The Bookies (GB) (No rider nominated), trained by John Joseph Hanlon (Race 6) Stewards permission.

038A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares Beginners Steeplechase & The Stewards requested a report from D.T. Hughes trainer of Chasing Shadows, placed second,  regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s recent form where she was pulled up in steeplechases at Punchestown and Thurles.
D.T. Hughes reported that the animal was unable to handle the very testing ground conditions at both Thurles and Punchestown when the going was described as heavy but rode very deep. The better underfoot ground conditions today were more favourable to the horse and brought about the improved performance.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted its content.  

038B Bet On Your Mobile With boylesports.com Steeplechase & R. Walsh, rider of Lambro trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran flat throughout.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Lambro at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

038F Tipperary (Lady Riders) Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from G. Hayes, trainer of the winner Thepartysover (GB), regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s recent run at Navan.
Mr Hayes reported that his charge disappointed at Navan on his last run where he failed to handle the very deep ground conditions. He added that his animal had previously won at Naas in ground conditions similar to todays.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted its content.  

Ms K. Walsh, rider of Julie Prince, trained by D.T. Hughes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount travelled well in the early stages of this race, but weakened quickly and was consequently pulled up.

Ray Hackett, trainer of Tidy Zag, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.

038G Horse And Jockey Mares I.N.H. Flat Race& The Stewards fined M.A. Cahill, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Mabbitstown Queen in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

Mr D. Murphy, rider of Pops Well, trained by Eugene M. O’Sullivan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled on today’s ground.

Dundalk Meeting, 1st March 2013

The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of rider at this meeting:-.
W.M. Lordan replaced W.J. Lee on Ruby Flipper, trained by Ms Joanna Morgan, (Race 2) Stewards Permission – see Enquiry.

039A www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap & The Stewards enquired into two incidents of possible interference in the closing stages of this race.
The first incident involved Harry Trotter, ridden by S. Foley, placed second, Mountain Coral, ridden by N.G. McCullagh, placed fifth, Bangalore Diamond, ridden by C.P. Hoban, and Inishmot Duchess, ridden by I.J. Brennan, both unplaced.
The second incident involved the winner Almadaa (GB), ridden by F. Lynch, Harry Trotter, ridden by S. Foley, placed second, Sujet Ballagio (GB), ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed third, and Rigid Rock, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed fourth.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. The Stewards did, however, caution S. Foley to be more careful in his future riding.

C.D. Hayes, rider of Big Typhoon, trained by T.G. McCourt, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was denied a clear run in the home straight.

Median Auction Maiden & The Stewards requested a report from David Marnane, trainer of the winner Eusepio, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s most recent outing at Dundalk on 15th February, where he finished sixth of 10 runners and was beaten approximately seven and a half lengths.
Ms Louise Finn, authorised representative of the trainer, reported that they were at a loss to explain this horse’s poor performance the last day and that they had him thoroughly examined after the race, but nothing showed up. Previous to that run, she said the horse had been very consistent and today he seemed to return to that level of form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

The Stewards received a request from Ms Joanna Morgan, trainer of Ruby Flipper, to substitute the nominated rider W.J. Lee, with W.M. Lordan, as the latter was unable to ride at the correct weight, having presented himself at the Scales one pound overweight. 
Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned and from W.J. Lee.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the substitution, while they noted W.J. Lee’s explanation and cautioned him regarding his future responsibilities in this regard.  

The Stewards informed Mrs Prunella Dobbs, trainer of Carried, that her charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.

039F Dundalk Stadium – Light Up Your Night Maiden & The Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Hidden Shadow, ridden by F. Lynch, and Lady X, ridden by E.J. McNamara, both unplaced, after it appeared that Lady X ran short of room and had to check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the interference was accidental and they therefore took no further action.

Navan Meeting, 2nd March 2013

The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of riders at this meeting:-.
P. Townend replaced A.E. Lynch on Roving Lad, trained by Paul John Gilligan (Race 3) Injured.
P.T. Enright replaced A.E. Lynch on Hidden Present, trained by Bernard Jones (Race 5) Injured.
D.J. Condon replaced A.E. Lynch on Rinroe, trained by Paul John Gilligan (Race 6) Injured.

040A N.I. Childrens Hospice Maiden Hurdle & P.T. Enright, rider of Synchronicity, trained by C. Byrnes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount struggled to go the pace down the back straight, but stayed on up the home straight past tired horses.

R.J. Jones, rider of Byron Blue, trained by E. McNamara, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well until the third last hurdle, that he flicked through the second last and became tired approaching the final flight.

040B Nobber Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards fined Paul John Gilligan €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Gold Spark in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

Lady Jane Alexander, trainer of Boom Hall, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her charge made a noise in running.

040C Garlow Cross Handicap Hurdle & A. Ring, rider of Decade Player, trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was not suited by today’s ground and became very tired on the run in after being dropped out in the early stages of this race.

040D FollowNavanOnFacebook Beginners Steeplechase & D.N. Russell, rider of Toostrong (FR) trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount struggled to handle today’s ground, made a noise in running and was therefore pulled up.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Toostrong (FR) at the request of the Stewards and reported that the animal was blowing hard, but was otherwise found to have no clinical abnormalities post race.

W.P. Mullins, trainer of Toostrong (FR), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge scoped abnormally post race.

040G Athboy (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards fined P.M.J. Doyle, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Chakisto (FR) in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

Leopardstown Meeting, 3rd March 2013

The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of riders at this meeting:-.
P.T. Enright replaced P. Townend on Saigheada Beaga, trained by Terence O’Brien, (Race 6) Injured.
D.J. Condon replaced M.J. Ferris on Wild Salmon, trained by William P. Murphy, (Race 6) Injured.

041C www.leopardstown.com Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from D.T. Hughes, trainer of Captain Arceus, placed second, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s recent form.
The trainer reported that his charge did not handle the extreme conditions on his last run and that today’s better ground helped the horse return to form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.  

041F Leopardstown Club Members Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of the winner Down Under, trained by F. Flood,  compared with the horse’s recent form.
The trainer’s representative reported that this horse did not handle the extreme ground conditions in his last race at Thurles and was pulled up like a number of horses in that race. Regarding the horse’s penultimate run at Punchestown, the representative expressed his satisfaction with the run and hoped he could build on this when stepping up in trip. The trainers representative concluded by stating that today’s better ground helped the horse show improved form.
Evidence was also heard from Noel O’Brien, Senior Turf Club National Hunt Handicapper.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.  

B.J. O’Connell, rider of Ard Agus Fada, trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost his action and was therefore pulled up.

041G Killiney (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards interviewed Mr C. Motherway, rider of Cillian’s Return, placed third, concerning his use of the whip in  this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr Motherway was in breach of Regulation 10 (3) (f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and Regulation 10 (4) in that he failed to give his mount sufficient time to respond.
Having considered his excellent record, the Stewards therefore suspended him for four race days (17th, 18th, 21st and 23rd March).

A.P. O’Brien, trainer of Egyptian Warrior, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 4th March that his charge was found to have a temperature post race.
