The Stewards interviewed Ray Hackett, trainer of Ghost Serge, concerning the conduct of this horse who refused to race when a fair start had been effected. Ray Hackett expressed his disappointment as he had put a lot of work into trying to get his charge to start his races as he had a record of refusals in the past and latterly had been slow into stride. Having considered Ghost Serge's past record at starts and the fact that the trainer had received a warning at Kilbeggan on the 14th May when his charge refused to start on that date, the Stewards suspended Ghost Serge for 30 days in accordance with the provisions of Rule 14(iii).

Furthermore, the Stewards also interviewed Ray Hackett, trainer, concerning a report from the IHRB Veterinary Officer Andrew Tyrrell that Ghost Serge was found to have been left unattended when the animal was required for a veterinary examination post race. Ray Hackett apologised for this happening but informed the Stewards that he had a runner in the following race and the groom was required to lead up this animal in the pre race preliminaries. He accepted that he had left Ghost Serge unattended for a period of time post race. Having considered the evidence the Stewards warned Ray Hackett concerning his primary responsibility under Regulation 9 to ensure that his horses are not left unattended while in the Racecourse stable yard area. .

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Ghost Serge, trained by Ray Hackett, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on his left hind post race. This animal had refused to race.

Conor Clarke, rider of Ghost Serge trained by Ray Hackett, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount refused to race.

The Stewards interviewed A.P. Kelly, rider of She's Made It, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence A.P. Kelly stated that he was trying to keep his mount going but admitted that he was in breach of the whip guidelines. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that A.P. Kelly was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned A.P. Kelly on this occasion.

The Stewards reviewed an incident on the approach to the first hurdle involving Howyated, ridden by R.A. Doyle, unplaced, Rock On Barney, ridden by Mr J.P. Kirwan, unplaced, Drimsree Lad, ridden by Mr N. Gault, unplaced and October Revolution, ridden by Derek McGrath, unplaced, where it appeared that the field was very bunched and some horses were tight for room. Having reviewed the recording of that part of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no action was warranted.
