The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of their non-runner:-

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

042A2 The TRI Equestrian M'dn H'dle

At the request of the Stewards, P.J. Carberry, rider of Given Wings, trained by Andrew McNamara, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was flat out racing through the four furlong pole and stayed on past tired horses in the latter stages of this race. He felt that his mount needs a trip in excess of two miles.

042C Adare Manor Opportunity H'cap H'dle

The Stewards requested a report from Oliver McKiernan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Fox Fearless (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form over hurdles at Limerick 29th December and Punchestown 18th January. Oliver McKiernan reported that his charge lost ground at the start at Punchestown and was unable to handle the very testing conditions at Limerick. He added that since then his charge had run twice on the AWT at Dundalk and had handled the quicker surface. In his opinion his charge appreciated the good to yielding ground conditions today and that brought about the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

042D Equine Products UK H'cap H'dle

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Kilandra, trained by Brian M. McMahon, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be have coughed once while being examined post race otherwise was post race normal.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Bloodstone, trained by Henry de Bromhead, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have coughed a few times on post race examination and furthermore was found to be clinically abnormal.

The Stewards interviewed B. Hayes, rider of Satin Sun, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. B. Hayes accepted that he had used his whip with his arm above shoulder height on one occasion only. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that B. Hayes was in breach of R10(3)(h) by using his whip with his arm above shoulder height. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned B. Hayes on this occasion.

042F John Thomas McNamara (QR) H'cap S'chase

The Stewards fined I. Madden, trainer, €65 for failing to fit cheek pieces to Baby Bellini, prior to entering the parade ring.

Mr E. Mahon, rider of Casamari Abbey trained by P.A. Fahy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made several mistakes during this race.

042G TRI Equestrian Superstore INH Flat Race

The Stewards interviewed Mr J.C. Barry, rider of Meet And Greet, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he had exceeded the whip guidelines in relation to excessive frequency. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. J.C. Barry was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous clean record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned Mr. J.C. Barry on this occasion.

The Stewards interviewed Mr J.J. Codd, rider of Top Bandit (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he had exceeded the whip guidelines in relation to frequency. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. J.J. Codd was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous clean record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned Mr. J.J. Codd on this occasion.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Prize Fighter, trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race otherwise was post race normal.

The Stewards interviewed Mr B. O'Neill, rider of Duncreevan, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had misjudged the number of times that he had used his whip having given three easy flicks of the whip early in the straight. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr B. O'Neill was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous clean record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned Mr. B. O'Neill on this occasion.

At the request of the Stewards, Mr P.W. Mullins, rider of Prize Fighter, trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung right and was eased.
