320B William Hill Pick Places Apprentice HcapThe Stewards interviewed S.T. McCullagh, rider of Bears Hug, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, S.T. McCullagh stated that in running he had unknowingly exceeded the whip guidelines for which he apologised. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that S.T. McCullagh was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended S.T. McCullagh for two racedays.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Scarlet Angel (USA), trained by G.M.Lyons, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
320C1 William Hill Extra Places Every Day HcapJames J. Doyle, rider of King's View trained by Lee Smyth, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right throughout this race.
320C2 William Hill Extra Places Every Day HcapThe Stewards interviewed W.J. Lee, rider of Beleaguerment, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, W.J. Lee stated that he switched his whip hand and his mount went to the right. He added that he had used his whip twice close to the finish for corrective purposes and demonstrated where he had moved his body weight to the left because of his mounts hanging. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that W.J. Lee was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration and pursuant to the provisions of R10(6)(a), the Stewards suspended W.J. Lee for six racedays.
W.J. Lee, rider of Beleaguerment trained by James McAuley, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right in the last one hundred and fifty yards.
320D William Hill Play Responsibly Nurs H'capThe Stewards enquired into an incident soon after leaving the starting stalls involving Midnight Toker, ridden by C.T. Keane, Escaping Thejungle, ridden by W.M. Lordan, Reinforce, ridden by G.P. Halpin, Charming Lady, ridden by J.J.G. Ryan, Bonny Power, ridden by C.D. Hayes, and All In The Hips, ridden by R. Whearty where it appeared that a number of horses received interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, C.T. Keane stated that after a few strides, the gap closed in front of him and his mount received interference. C.D. Hayes stated that his mount received interference and he had to check off heels. J.J.G. Ryan stated that his mount got a bump from the outside. R. Whearty stated that he received pressure from the outside which pushed his mount onto the horse on her inner. W.M. Lordan stated that his mount jumped slow and got tight for room. G.P. Halpin stated that his mount jumped left out of the stalls and he was unable to do anything to avoid causing the incident. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards advised G.P. Halpin to be more aware of his responsibility to keep a straight racing line from the starting stalls. Elaine O'Farrell accompanied J.J.G. Ryan at this enquiry.
W.J. Lee, rider of Lovejoy trained by W. McCreery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left during this race.
C.T. Keane, rider of Midnight Toker trained by G.M.Lyons, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got flattened coming out of the starting stalls.
G.P. Halpin, rider of Reinforce trained by John Stephen O'Donoghue, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped left out of the starting stalls and then hung left throughout the race.
C.D. Hayes, rider of Bonny Power trained by Edward Lynam, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got flattened coming out of the starting stalls.
J.A. Powell, rider of Wakai Umi trained by Ciaran Murphy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung off the first bend.
R. Whearty, rider of All In The Hips trained by Jack W. Davison, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got a knock coming out of the starting stalls.
The Stewards enquired into an incident on the bend into the straight involving Vanguard Star, ridden by H.J. Horgan, Reinforce, ridden by G.P. Halpin, and Charming Lady, ridden by J.J.G. Ryan where it appeared that Vanguard Star ran short of room and checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, J.J.G. Ryan stated that his mount was in a gap when getting pressure from both sides and he checked when the gap closed. H.J. Horgan stated that his mount lugged out on the approach to the bend and he did not react quick enough to correct his racing line. G.P. Halpin stated that he was riding on the outer and in his opinion he did not feel that he contributed to the incident. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards advised H.J. Horgan to ride with more awareness in a similar situation. Elaine O'Farrell accompanied J.J.G. Ryan at this enquiry.
320E Al Basti Pat Smullen Mercury StakesD.P. McDonogh, rider of The Highway Rat trained by A. Oliver, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stumbled soon after leaving the starting stalls.
C.T. Keane, rider of Pirate Jenny trained by G.M.Lyons, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount charged the stalls and he noted that there was blood at the nostrils post race.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Pirate Jenny, trained by G.M.Lyons, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have blood at both nostrils post race possibly as a result of banging her head at the start.
T.P. Madden, rider of Sablonne (GB) trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount anticipated the start.
