033E1 DKITSU Race Day H'cap

The Raceday Stewards enquired into the circumstances concerning the withdrawal of Picpoul from this race on veterinary advice. Ms Edel Gray, Racecourse Veterinary Surgeon stated that Picpoul was presented to her on arrival by her trainer M.M. Rice who had concerns about her soundness. Following examination she advised the trainer that the animal should be withdrawn on veterinary grounds for lameness. This message was relayed on the internal communications system. She advised that she had contacted Andrew Tyrrell, IHRB Veterinary Officer on duty. The Raceday Stewards subsequently requested Andrew Tyrrell MRCVS to examine the filly on their behalf but she had already departed the racecourse when he responded to their request. Having considered all the evidence, the Raceday Stewards advised Ms Gray that the withdrawal of Picpoul should have come officially to them from Mr Tyrrell following an examination by him on their behalf.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Showman (GB), trained by Peter Fahey, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed Charlotte Tindale, rider of Clueless Hill, concerning her use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In her evidence, Charlotte Tindale stated that her mount had no chance in the straight but she was riding to instructions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Charlotte Tindale was in breach of R10(3)(b) by using her whip unnecessarily after her chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone. Having taken her clean previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended Charlotte Tindale for three racedays. Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards reminded Charlotte Tindale of her responsibility to comply with Rule 213 by reporting anything that may have affected the running of her mount after she had stated in her evidence that her mount reared up on leaving the starting stalls which was not subsequently reported prior to this enquiry.

Charlotte Tindale, rider of Clueless Hill, trained by Luke Comer, reported at a Stewards Enquiry that her mount reared up on leaving the starting stalls.
