The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident approximately two furlongs from the winning post involving Shining Aitch (GB), ridden by J.J.G. Ryan, unplaced, Lorr's Girl, ridden by R.P. Cleary, unplaced, and Ciantov, ridden by S.D. Bowen, unplaced, where it appeared that Shining Aitch (GB) ran short of room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J.J.G. Ryan stated that there was a gap in front of him which closed when he went for it and he had to take back. R.P. Cleary stated that things got tight for Mr. Ryan, but he felt he kept a reasonably straight line. S.D. Bowen stated that his mount wears cheekpieces and when he heard a shout he straightened his mount and kept straight thereafter. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that S.D. Bowen was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record (second offence), they suspended him for four racedays. S.D. Bowen waived his right to be accompanied at this enquiry.
