Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that after pulling up he remained mounted and walked to the winning post before dismounting to cross over towards the exit off the track. He further stated that his mount had made a small nod with its head when walking, that another rider running the track had confirmed to him that there was no sign of any injury and he was satisfied that his mount was sound enough to walk back mounted. Evidence was also heard from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, who stated that she had observed R.P Treacy mounted on Merrywick Lady who appeared to be showing signs of lameness and had asked him to dismount. She concluded by reporting that Merrywick Lady was lame post race. Having considered the matter including a recording of the incident, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that R.P. Treacy was in breach of Rule 216(iii), in that he had failed to dismount a lame or injured horse as soon as possible. Having taken his clean record in this regard into account, including an apology for misjudgement of the situation, the Raceday Stewards suspended R.P. Treacy for 10 racedays.
