The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) is currently developing Thoroughbred Welfare Standards and Guidelines and as part of this process, we are inviting members of the public to contribute their views through a brief survey.
As part of the IHRB’s Strategic Plan 2024–2027, we committed to developing and implementing comprehensive equine welfare standards for Training Establishments.
The purpose of these Standards is to provide a clear, proportionate, and evidence-based framework for safeguarding the welfare of racehorses under the care of licensed Trainers. They will be designed to reflect best practice, protect public confidence in the sport, and provide assurance to all stakeholders, including owners, government, and the wider public, that Irish racing meets the highest expectations.
