Protected Disclosures in the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board

Last updated on 7 July 2023

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board has procedures in place for protected disclosures that have been developed in line with the Protected Disclosures Act 2014 and the Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Act 2022 , and agreed agreed upon by the management board.

These procedures detail:

  • how staff members can make a disclosure
  • what happens when disclosures are made
  • what the IHRB does to protect the staff members

The IHRB has a strong commitment to ensuring its culture and working environment encourage, facilitate and support employees. This particularly refers to anyone who might wish to 'speak up' on an issue that impinges on the IHRB’s ability to carry out its responsibilities.

Section 22 of the Protected Disclosure Act requires that annual reports be published in relation to disclosures received by the organisation.

There were no protected disclosures received between the years 2014 to 2024 inclusive.

A copy of the current Protected Disclosure (Whistleblowing) policy is available to view by IHRB staff here.
