179G Racing Again August 11th INH Flat Race

Following a report from the IHRB Veterinary Officer that Sweet Maisie trained by Luke Comer was noted to have no hind shoes when presented for identification. The Raceday Stewards enquired as to why prior permission was not sought by the trainer from the IHRB under Regulation 16 to allow his charge to race without hind shoes. Evidence was heard from Sarah Devoy, representing Luke Comer, trainer. She stated that Sweet Maisie had front shoes fitted but had proven to be very difficult to fit with hind shoes. She admitted that she was unaware of the requirement under Regulation 16. Having considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Luke Comer had failed to comply with the provisions of Regulation 16 by failing to request prior permission from the IHRB to allow his charge to run without hind shoes under an exceptional circumstance and consequently ordered the withdrawal of Sweet Maisie.
