The Raceday Stewards received a report from the IHRB Veterinary Officer, Dr. Graham Adams, where it appeared that Peaceinthevalley ridden by M.P. O'Connor had whip marks on its hind quarters post race. The Raceday Stewards interviewed M.P. O'Connor concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned and the IHRB Veterinary Officer. Dr. Graham Adams showed photographic evidence of his findings which were accepted by M.P. O'Connor. M.P. O'Connor stated that he lost his whip in Leopardstown yesterday and that he was using a new whip. He further added that he gave his whip a wipe so it may have been damp. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found M.P. O'Connor was in breach of R.10.3(f)(force) and having considered his clean record in this regard, they suspended him for two racedays.
