The Stewards requested a report from C. O'Donoghue, rider of Escape Clause, trained by Mrs John Harrington, as to the reason why he was late arriving at the start, thereby delaying the race. The rider reported that his mount was difficult going to post and began plunging down the sprint track, and this delayed him arriving at the start. Having considered the report, the Stewards took no further action.
