The Stewards received a report from Ms.Nicola O'Connor, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, in relation to Serene, trained by John Joseph Murphy, who she found to have an active or recent skin disease on examination. Evidence was heard from Mr. Murphy and Ms. O'Connor. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the trainer was in breach of Rule 148(v)(a), in that he allowed a horse to enter the racecourse with an active or recent skin disease without a Veterinary certificate, confirming that any such skin condition is no longer active and having considered the trainer's record in this regard, fined him €500 and ordered the withdrawal of Serene and it's removal from the stable yard. |
