Racecourse Information
For the purpose of the 2025/2026 National Hunt Season “Novice” for hurdle races means a horse which has not won a hurdle race prior to 4 May 2025. However, any horse which wins a hurdle race for the first time from 1 February 2025 up to and including 3 May 2025 (other than a Grade 1 Weight For Age Hurdle) will be qualified as a Novice for the period up to and including the 30 November 2025.
“Novice” for steeplechase races means a horse which has not won a steeplechase race prior to 4 May 2025 other than one hunters steeplechase in the previous two National Hunt seasons. However, any horse which wins a steeplechase for the first time (hunters steeplechase excluded) from 1 February 2025 up to and including 3 May 2025 (other than a Grade 1 Weight For Age Steeplechase) will be qualified as a Novice for the period up to and including the 30 November 2025.
This fee is subject to a minimum charge of €120 per visit for certificates issued at a trainers' premises. Fees will be processed through the owner's HRI account if the horse is 'racing active'. If the horse is returned 'as racing inactive' the fee will be processed through the trainer's HRI account.
All Horses that run in a Claiming Race may be claimed by any person, subject to Regulation 6 of the Rules of Racing.
The Trainer of any Horse entered in an Optional Claiming Race must, at time of entry, stipulate if the Horse has been entered to run and can be claimed or has been entered to run and cannot be claimed. This cannot be amended once the Race has been closed for entry.
All Horses entered in Optional Claiming Races to be claimed are subject to the Regulations outlined under subheading Claiming Races in Regulation 6 of the Rules of Racing.

When a horse is declared a non runner a suspension may be imposed, please see the table below for the circumstances when a suspension is applied and a veterinary certificate is required.
A suspension starts the day after the race in which a horse was declared a non runner; for example if a horse is declared a non runner on Sunday and a three day suspension is applied, the horse is therefore suspended on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the horse may run again on Thursday.
Where a Veterinary Certificate is required it must be emailed to [email protected] within three business days.

Should a horse be declared as a non runner for a reason not outlined above, the horse will be suspended for two days and a minimum fine of €200 will be imposed, unless Stewards Permission has been granted.
In the case of Transport Difficulties, where a fine has been imposed a trainer may apply to the CEO with evidence of mechanic or tyre work carried out for the fine to be remitted.
A suspension will not be applied under the following circumstances: Permission of the Stewards, Family Bereavement or when a horse has been Sold. -
A horse should be presented for identification by an IHRB Official at least one hour prior to the time fixed for the running of the race in which the horse is declared to run. In exceptional circumstances the Raceday Stewards may allow an additional 10 minutes for late arrival. To seek an extra 10 minutes you should request it with the Clerk of the Scales or email [email protected]

It is a requirement that all Horses be fully shod prior to entering the parade ring, unless in exceptional circumstances in which case permission must have been granted in advance by the IHRB. To seek permission to run a Horse with no hind shoes email [email protected]

You should inform the Clerk of the Scales or email [email protected] that your horse will be wearing a red hood prior to the race. In accordance with Regulation 16, no hood or other item of headgear which is red in colour may be worn during the race.

All visiting Trainers are required to request permission from the IHRB if they intend on using or wearing their branded paddock sheets, coolers and stable staff clothing.
