Raceday and Point-to-Point Dept Administrative Assistant

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) is the Regulatory Body for horseracing in Ireland. The IHRB is responsible for the integrity and reputation of Irish horseracing. It is also responsible for the licensing of all participants in Irish racing.

The IHRB wishes to recruit a full-time Raceday and Point-to-Point Department Administrative Assistant. The successful candidate will report to the Raceday and Point-to-Point Operations Manager. Their primary function will be to oversee the day to day registration of all Individuals and Horses competing in Point to Point racing in Ireland.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Registration of Point to Point Handlers and Owners
  • Registration of Hunters Certificates
  • Supporting the administration of Point to Point meetings.
  • Supporting the administration of the raceday operations functions on the racecourse, particularly the Starters and Clerk of the Scales
  • Updating relevant parts of the IHRB website
  • Answering general queries regarding the Rules of Racing and Regulations for Point to Point Steeplechases
  • Secretarial support for the department
  • Liaising with stakeholders, third party service providers and trade associations as required
  • Compilation of detailed Statistics to support the Point to Point Committee
  • Reception relief
  • Any other duties that may be required within the organisation

 

The Person

To be considered for the position of Racing and Point-to-Point Department Administrative Assistant, you will need to be adaptable and flexible and have an ability to anticipate issues. You will also need to be meticulous and exercise great attention to detail.

Desirable Attributes

  • A working knowledge of Racing and Point to Points.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Excellent administration and organisational skills.
  • A positive attitude in dealing with stakeholders.
  • Flexible and prepared to work out of office hours on occasion.
  • Excellent IT Skills to include MS Office.
