James Leavy / Breach Of Curragh Training Grounds Regulations

The Referrals Committee, Dr. Gordon A. Holmes (in the Chair), Mr. P.J.A. O’Connor met at the Stewards Room, Curragh Racecourse on 23rd October 2007 to consider the referral of James Leavy, Trainer, by Denis Egan, Keeper of the Matchbook, in respect of one horse under his care which was found to be using the Curragh Training Grounds on 29th August without being returned in training.


Evidence was heard from James Leavy and the Committee considered written evidence from Paul Hensey and Pat Kelly, Curragh Training Grounds Manager.


Having considered the evidence the Committee found that Mr. Leavy was in breach of Rule and Order 24 and fined him €200 and ordered him to pay costs of €200.

The case was presented by Mr. Brian Price, Wilkinson and Price Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.
