The Referrals Committee, Mr Justice Frank Clarke (Chair), Mr Michael Sheahan and Mr Marcus Magnier convened at the offices of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board on Tuesday, 30 June 2026 to consider whether Mr Sean Aherne (Trainer) was in breach of any Rules of Racing arising from a stable inspection carried out at his Training Establishment on 25 March 2026 by IHRB Officials.
On the day of the inspection, the inspection team noted that one horse was returned in the care of Mr Aherne but was not present at his Training Establishment. Furthermore, four horses were recorded as present at the Training Establishment but were not returned in the care of Mr Aherne.
At the Referral Hearing, the Committee considered submissions from Mr Aherne, including his acceptance of the breach and confirmation that steps had been taken to remedy the error.
Having considered the evidence, the Referrals Committee found Mr Aherne in breach of Rule 148(xii) and imposed a fine of €400.
