Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board invite applications for the role of CEO

 

Applications are invited for the role of Chief Executive Officer at the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) following the announcement that the current CEO, Mr. Denis Egan, will retire in September.

The IHRB is a private company whose statutory remit is to protect the integrity and reputation of Irish horse racing and the Board of the IHRB seek an ambitious, focused and energetic leader with multifaceted experience across the areas of corporate governance and regulation.

Harry McCalmont, Chairman of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board, said: “Following Mr. Egan’s announcement that he would be retiring in September, the Board of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board have worked towards putting a process in place for the appointment of a new permanent CEO for the organisation. We would once again like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Egan for his tireless and unwavering commitment and service to the Turf Club and the IHRB during a tenure which has witnessed many changes within the organisation. We wish Mr. Egan and his family the very best in the future.”

The Board of the IHRB have also confirmed that Ms. Cliodhna Guy, Head of Licensing, Legal and Compliance, will act as Interim CEO for a fixed period while the full recruitment process for a permanent CEO is underway. Ms. Guy, who is also Company Secretary of the IHRB, joined the organisation in 2017 and is a qualified solicitor.

Harry McCalmont continued: “Cliodhna Guy will step into the role on an interim basis while the process of appointing a new CEO takes place. Ms. Guy’s experience within the IHRB will allow for a smooth transition period until a permanent appointment has been made.”
