The Appeals Body (Division Two), Mr. J.R. Craigie, Chairman, Mr. C.E. O’Sullivan and Mr. Liam Ward met in the Stewards Room at the Curragh Racecourse, Co. Kildare on Sunday, 2nd September 2007 to consider the appeal of W.J. Lee, rider, against the severity of the suspension imposed by the Acting Stewards at Galway on the 31st July 2007 when following the running of the www.tote.ie European Breeders Fund 2-Y-O Fillies Maiden he was suspended for six racedays for careless riding.

The Appeals Body considered a plea made on behalf of W.J. Lee by his solicitor Mr. Andrew Coonan and also reviewed videos of the race.

Having considered the evidence, the Appeals Body reduced the suspension to four days, September 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th.

The case was presented by Mr. M.F. O’Donoghue, Stewards Secretary.

W.J. Lee was represented by Mr. Andrew Coonan of Coonan Cawley Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.
