At the request of the Raceday Stewards, J.S. McGarvey, rider of All Those Years (GB), trained by C.Byrnes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran keen, made a couple of jumping mistakes and stayed on one paced. .
137B1 BoyleSports H'cap H'dleS.D. Torrens, rider of Warm In Gorey, trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right off the home bend.
The Raceday Stewards interviewed J.S. McGarvey, rider of Grizabella, concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. J.S. McGarvey accepted that he was in breach of the whip guidelines and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that J.S McGarvey was in breach of R10.3(i) by failing to allow his mount at least three strides to respond to the whip. Having considered his record in this regard, they cautioned him on this occasion.
137B2 BoyleSports H'cap H'dleC.D. Maxwell, rider of Shining Aitch (GB), trained by T.G.McCourt, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stopped quickly.
S.W. Flanagan, rider of O Faolains Lass, trained by N Dooly, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount burst a blood vessel. This was subsequently confirmed by the IHRB veterinary officer.
137D Support The Irish Injured Jockeys H'dleThe Raceday Stewards interviewed S.W. Flanagan, rider of Joyeux Machin (FR), concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. S.W. Flanagan stated that he was aware he had breached the whip guidelines but added that his mount is not the most straight forward type and felt he was keeping his mount up to his job. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that S.W. Flanagan was in breach of the R10.3(i) by failing to allow his mount at least three strides to respond to the whip. Having considered his record in this regard they suspended him for one raceday.
137E Country Fest Wexford Aug 13 H'cap H'dleThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Townhill Penny, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have struck into his left fore pastern also left fetlock and his left hind coronet band.
137F Racing Again June 20th INH Flat RaceThe Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr J.C. Barry, rider of Minella Mate, concerning his use of the whip when turning into the home straight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, Mr J.C. Barry admitted that he had breached the whip guidelines for time to respond. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Mr J.C. Barry was in breach of R10(3)(i) by failing to allow his mount at least three strides to respond to the whip. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards cautioned Mr J.C. Barry on this occasion.
Mr F. Maguire, rider of Pipers Boreen, trained by Shane Nolan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never left herself down on the ground.
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident off the final bend and later in the straight involving Minella Mate, ridden by Mr J.C. Barry, placed third, and Mousey Brown, ridden by Mr D. McGill, placed first, where it appeared contact was made. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr J.C. Barry stated that he felt he was holding his intended racing line when he received a bump from his inside. Mr. D.McGill stated that he felt he had room to go the inner racing line until he received pressure from his outside causing him to have to make a manoeuver back towards the racing line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that both riders had ridden improperly and were in breach of Rule 214. Having considered their record in this regard, they suspended Mr J.C. Barry for four racedays and Mr D. Mcgill also for four racedays.
