The Stewards requested a report from Mark Michael McNiff, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Staging Post, placed first, as compared with its previous run in a maiden hurdle over 2 miles 2 furlongs at Fairyhouse on the 13th April. The trainer reported that it was intended for his charge to drop in at Fairyhouse but a gap appeared on the inside soon after the start and he raced through it and ran too keen up with the pace until tiring after the third last hurdle. He advised that this was the geldings first run since October 2020. He also felt that his charge had run a satisfactory race on the flat at Sligo on the 18th May. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

Rachael Blackmore, rider of Leac An Scail Lady trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her mount hung left after the last.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference before the final hurdle involving Risk Factor, ridden by J.J. Slevin, placed third, Night Combat, ridden by E. Walsh, placed sixth, and Leac An Scail Lady, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, placed fifth, where it appeared interference occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J.J. Slevin stated that he suffered no interference but said his horse was a big backward individual. E. Walsh stated he got a bump from his outside which unbalanced his mount but this did not cost him a better placing. Rachael Blackmore stated that her mount half jinked left and collided with Night Combat which in turn bumped her mount out again. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Leac An Scail Lady had caused interference to Night Combat but had not improved her placing over Night Combat in so doing. The Stewards therefore made no alteration to the Judges placings. They did, however, consider that Rachael Blackmore had ridden carelessly, this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken her previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended Rachael Blackmore for 2 racedays. Mr. Michael Hickey Chairman of the Acting Stewards, absented himself from this inquiry and Ms. C. Corballis acted as Chairperson.

Mr. M. Hickey (Chairman),

Ms. C. Corballis,

Mr. P. Coveney,

Mr. M. F. Donoghue.

Having reviewed the information posted on going descriptions and in consultation with the Clerk of the Course Mr T.V. O'Connell, the Stewards were satisfied that there was no material change in the going from the time of declaration to the commencement of the meeting and therefore did not accept the reasons forwarded. The Stewards imposed a fine of €200 on each of the trainers in relation to their non runners for the reasons as stated above. Each non runner was suspended for 2 racedays.
