The following trainers were fined €200 in each case for the non-notification of a Veterinary Certificate in accordance with the provisions of Rule 194 (v) (vi):- Mr. Gordon Elliott for Spring Lane (stone bruise) at Navan on 27th November; Mr. L. Byrne for American Flyer (skin disorder) at Wexford on 27th November and Mr. J.P. McAllen for Black Mac (injured) at Wexford on 27th November.
The following trainer was fined €130 for the non-notification of the racecourse performance in accordance with Rule 148 (v)(d) relating to horses (Irish Trained) running overseas:- Mr. Shaun Harley for Mobus Wan (FR) at Kempton Park on 26th October.
Wexford Meeting, 27th November 2011
309A Slaney Maiden Hurdle & Mr. John A. White, trainer of Saltee Mist, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Thursday 1st December that his charge was found to be very lame post race.
Dundalk Meeting, 2nd December 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: R.P. Cleary rode Ruhar (reserve), trained by Mr. W. McCreery (first race) and S.A. Gray rode Notgonnagiveup (reserve), trained by Mr. Richard J. Walker (fifth race).
310C Christmas Parties At Dundalk Nursery Handicap & G.J. Phillips, rider of Mount Meru (GB), trained by Mr. G.M. Lyons, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was bumped early on and did not travel thereafter. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Mount Meru (GB) had small cuts to his left fore coronet and left hind inside fetlock but was otherwise found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.
310D Gary Wiltshire- ‘Winning It Back’ Handicap & The Stewards enquired into an incident in the back straight involving the winner Tell The Wind, ridden by C.D. Hayes, Madeira Man, ridden by K.J. Manning, and Jembatt, ridden by R.P. Cleary, both unplaced, after it appeared interference had taken place.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that interference had taken place and advised K.J. Manning to ride with more care in future.
Mr. Stephen Collins, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.
310E Winter Racing At Dundalk Handicap & D.J. Benson, rider of Romeo’s On Fire, trained by Mr. Lee Smyth, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was slowly into stride and travelled well into the straight. He reported that he asked his mount to challenge under tender handling without resorting to whip, but that the animal failed to deliver due to reluctant tendencies.
R.P. Cleary, rider of Curl Cat (USA), trained by Mr. Thomas Cleary, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount missed the break, but had a good run through on the inner to challenge early in the straight. He reported that his mount failed to quicken when asked and was a reluctant character. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Curl Cat (USA) was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.
310F(i) Christmas Party Packages At Dundalk Apprentice Handicap (Division One) & The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final furlong involving Rocky’s Pride, ridden by Megan Carberry, placed fourth, and Darraghs Day, ridden by S. Foley, placed fifth.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned in the presence of Ms. Joanna Morgan, representing Megan Carberry.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. The Stewards did, however, find Megan Carberry to be in breach of Rule 214 (v) 2 in that she had ridden carelessly and they therefore cautioned her as to her future responsibilities in this regard.
The Stewards interviewed J.P. O’Brien, rider of Sparring Partner, placed third, concerning his use of the whip.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found that J.P. O’Brien was in breach of Regulation 10 3 in that he had failed to give his mount time to respond to the whip. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (16th December).
Fairyhouse Meeting, 3rd December 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: Mr. J.E. Flynn rode Smokey Thatch (reserve), trained by Mr. J.T.R. Dreaper (second race).
311A(i) Fairyhouse Premier Jump Weekend Maiden Hurdle (Division One) & B.T. O’Connell, rider of Just Two Numbers (GB), trained by Mr. John G. Carr, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was pulled up injured.
311A(ii) Fairyhouse Premier Jump Weekend Maiden Hurdle (Division Two) & P. Townend, rider of Simenon, trained by Mr. W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a few mistakes and became tired on today’s ground. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Simenon was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.
311D Ryans Cleaning Event Specialists Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into possible interference after the final hurdle involving the winner Schinkel, ridden by R. Loughran, and Galant Ferns, ridden by B.T. O’Connell, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that, while interference had occurred, they were not satisfied that the interference improved the placing of the winner in relation to the runner-up and they therefore made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. The Stewards were, however, of the opinion that R. Loughran had ridden carelessly (Rule 214) and having taken his excellent recent record in this regard into account, they therefore severely cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard, while they also cautioned him concerning the accuracy of his evidence.
D.N. Russell, rider of Sweet Shock (GER), trained by Mr. Michael O’Hare, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped slowly in the early stages and never travelled thereafter. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Sweet Shock (GER) was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.
311G Irish Racing Yearbook (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat Race & Mr. D. Kiely, rider of Ziff, trained by Mr. John E. Kiely, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran free.The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Ziff was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.
Miss N. Carberry, rider of Kick For Touch (GB), trained by Mr. Charles O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount ran flat and did not handle today’s ground. The trainer subsequently reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Tuesday 6th December that his charge was found to be lame behind post race.
Fairyhouse Meeting, 4th December 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: A.E. Lynch replaced P. Townend (unwell) on Droim Toll, trained by Mr. Donal Hassett (sixth race).
312A Bar One Racing Juvenile 3-y-o Hurdle & The Stewards fined Mr. T.J. Taaffe, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Argocat in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
312B Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle & D.N. Russell, rider of Il Fenomeno (ITY), trained by Mr. Noel Meade, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not jump well.
312C Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Steeplechase & D.N. Russell, rider of First Lieutenant, trained by Mr. M.F. Morris, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that he pulled his mount up. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that First Lieutenant was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.
312F Cafrey’s Bar And Restaurant Of Batterstown Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards interviewed D.J. Condon, rider of Potrait King, placed second, concerning his use of the whip.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found that D.J. Condon was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he has used his whip with excessive force and frequency. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for five race days (18th, 21st, 22nd, 26th and 27th December).
312G O’Doherty’s Audio & Video Production Ltd. (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards enquired into an incident before the turn into the straight involving Thomas Edison, ridden by Mr. S.J. Craig, placed third, Starkie (GB), ridden by Mr. D. Roche, placed fifth, Debt To Society, ridden by Mr. D.F. Bourke, and Sizing Italy, ridden by Mr. P.W. Mullins, both unplaced, after it appeared that Mic Milano, ridden by Miss G. Ryan had to check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was as a result of general bunching. The Stewards were unable to apportion blame to any rider and therefore took no further action.
