Kilkenny (F) Point to Point Meeting, Sunday, 6th November, 2011.
The Stewards enquired into a complaint from the Starter, Mr. John Collins, regarding the conduct of Mr. D.L. Queally, Qualified Rider, at the start.
Having heard evidence from the Starter, Mr. John Collins, and from Qualified Rider, Mr. D.L. Queally, the Stewards were satisfied that Mr. Queally was in breach of Regulation 31 (a) and suspended him for one Point to Point raceday. They also severely cautioned him regarding his future conduct.

The following trainer was find €200 for the non-notification of a Veterinary Certificate in accordance with the provisions of Rule 194 (v) (vi):- Mr. Charles O’Brien for Edith Cowan (in season) at Leopardstown on 30th October.
Dundalk Meeting, 28th October 2011
281E Group Bookings At Dundalk Handicap & The Stewards fined Mr. Thomas McGivern, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Haveahaarth in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

282A Frank McGlynn Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards fined Mr. Edward Cawley, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Backinyourbox in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

284E Casey Precast Steeplehcase & The Stewards fined Mr. Paul John Gilligan, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Nintytwo Team in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
Wexford Meeting, 31st October 2011
285A 60th Anniversary Of Racing At Wexford Maiden Hurdle & C.D. Maxwell, rider of Sadler’s Mark (GB), trained by Mr. Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost his action and was therefore pulled up.
285B Vinegar Hill (C&G) Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into possible interference from the final hurdle to the winning post involving the winner My Murphy, ridden by D.N. Russell, and Rourke’s Cross, ridden by D.J. Casey, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the winner did cause interference, but that he did not improve his placing in so doing. The Stewards therefore made no alteration to the Judges’ placings and took no further action.
The Stewards interviewed D.J. Bates, rider of Tulla Emerald, concerning his riding to the final hurdle, where his mount ran out while racing in a challenging position, and the fact that he failed to immediately pull up the horse.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that his mount hung outwards continuously on the final circuit and that his arms were locked in an attempt to stay inside the outside wing of the final hurdle, but he was unable to do so and his mount unfortunately ran out. He added that he was unable to pull up immediately because of the lack of strength in his right arm and the very close proximity of the final hurdle to the winning post.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.J. Bates should have either made a greater attempt to jump the final hurdle or take the decision to pull up. The Stewards therefore reminded him of his responsibilities in this regard for the future.
R.M. Moran, rider of Tickle Your Fancy, trained by Mr. Edward Cawley, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung very badly in this race.
285G Spawell (C&G) (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards received a report from Mr. W. Fleming, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the failure of S.J. Crimin, rider of Follow The Script, placed fifth, to weigh in after this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he was unaware that the rider of the fifth placed horse had to weigh in.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards disqualified Follow The Script from fifth place in accordance with the provisions of Rule 232(ii). The Stewards also found that S.J. Crimin was in breach of Rule 227 (i) and therefore severely cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard. Furthermore the Stewards advised S.J. Crimin to familiarise himself with the Rules pertaining to weighing in procedures.
Thurles Meeting, 3rd November 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: Mr. D. O’Connor replaced Mr. R.P. McNamara (Stewards permission) on Wolf Hall, trained by Mr. C. Byrnes (seventh race).
287A Cashel Maiden Hurdle & D.N. Russell, rider of Got Options, trained by Mr. Richard J. Walker, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a noise in running and became very tired in the closing stages.
287B Templemore Mares Maiden Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Rising Tide, trained by Mr. Paul Nolan, was found to be lame post race.
287C Holycross Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed K.T. Coleman, rider of Really Unique, placed third, concerning his use of the whip.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who admitted to using his whip with excessive frequency and apologised for his actions.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found K.T. Coleman to be in breach of Regulation 10 2. (f), in that he hit the horse with excessive frequency. Having taken his very good record into account, the Stewards therefore severely cautioned him as to his future responsibilities in this regard.
287E Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Beginners Steeplechase & D.N. Russell, rider of Grey Soldier, trained by Mr. Gordon Elliott, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running.
Dundalk Meeting, 4th November 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: B.A. Curtis rode Stay In My Heart (reserve), trained by Mr. C.F. Swan (fourth race) and M.C. Hussey rode Lutfen Yavas (reserve), trained by Mr. Bernard Anthony Heffernan (fourth race).
288A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden & J.P. Murtagh, rider of Wasabi’s House, trained by Mr. John M. Oxx, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran short of room in the closing stages.
D.P. McDonogh, rider of Yeeoow, trained by Mrs K. Burke (in GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount stumbled badly on leaving the stalls.
288B www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap & The Stewards interviewed F.F Da Silva, rider of La Canaada, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10 2. (b), in that he continued to hit his mount after the horse’s chance of winning or been placed had clearly gone. Having taken his excellent record into account, the Stewards therefore severely cautioned him as to his future responsibilities in this regard.
Mr. Gerard Stack, trainer of La Ganaada, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 7th November that his charge was found to be lame post race. This was confirmed by a Veterinary Surgeon on Tuesday 8th November.
C.D. Hayes, rider of Richelieu (GB), trained by Mr. Lee Smyth, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly.
288D Irish Stallion Farms Median Auction Maiden & The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Croi An Or, ridden by W.M. Lordon, placed third, and Hassaaya, ridden by J.P. Murtagh unplaced, after it appeared that the latter ran short of room and had to check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards cautioned W.M. Lordon to ride with more care in the future.
The Stewards interviewed Mr. John Griffin, representing Mr. J.S. Bolger, trainer, to explain the circumstances which led to the withdrawal of Bandiuc from this race following a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer which stated that the filly presented for racing could not be identified from the passport lodged and that, in his opinion, this was a different horse.
In his evidence Mr. Griffin stated that, in his opinion, the wrong filly was loaded onto the horse box and that the mistake was not noticed until arrival at the track.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards acting in terms of Rule 90 (v), withdrew Bandiuc from this race and referred the matter to the Chief Executive of the Turf Club for further investigation.
288E Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Cooley Fillies Stakes & The Stewards interviewed S. Sanders rider of the winner Clinical (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10 2. (F), in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and that he was also in breach of Regulation 10 3. (a), in that he had used his whip rapidly without giving regard to the stride of the horse. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (18th and 25th November).
The Stewards interviewed D.P. Mc Donagh, rider of Rose Bonheur (GB), placed fifth, concerning his use of the whip.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10 3. (a), in that he had used his whip rapidly without giving regard to the stride of the horse. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (18th November).
Down Royal Meeting, 4th November 2011
289B European Breeders Fund Lough Construction Ltd. Mares Novice Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Shadow Eile, trained by Mrs D.A. Love, was found to be post race normal.
289F Robinson Services Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards granted permission for the third last fence to be omitted from this race and from both circuits of the Porter & Co. Beginners Steeplechase due to the low trajectory of the sun.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Hollymount King, trained by Mr. S.J. Treacy, was found to be lame in front post race.
Down Royal Meeting, 5th November 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: The following rider replaced N.D. Fehily (transport difficulties):- P. Carberry rode The Nightingale (FR), trained by Mr. Paul Nicholls (in GB) (fourth race) and Kauto Stone (FR), trained by Mr. Paul Nicholls (in GB) (fifth race); The following riders replaced R.M. Power (injured):- D.J. Condon rode Saludos, trained by Mrs John Harrington (fifth race) and B.J. Cooper rode The Big Boyo, trained by Mr. P.J. Colville (sixth race); A.P Crowe replaced T.P. Treacy (injured) on Once Bitten, trained by Mr. S. Wilson (first race) and N.P. Madden replaced S.W. Jackson (injured) on Ryans Princess, trained by Mr. J.G. Cosgrave (second race).
290A Pudsey Maiden Hurdle &A.P. Crowe, rider of Once Bitten, trained by Mr. S. Wilson, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running.
Mr. S.J. Craig, rider of Thomas Edison, trained by Mr. A.J. Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a bad mistake at the second, fourth and final hurdle and made a respiratory noise in running.
290B Tayto Group Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards held an enquiry (Under Rules 227 and 232) following a report from Mr. P.L. Malone, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, which stated that H.D. Dunne, rider of Representing, unplaced, weighed in 14lbs light at 10st 5lbs having weighed out at 11st 5lbs.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had his girths checked at the start. He said he was unaware of any problem until he was informed by another rider that his lead cloth had come unattached on the final bend. As a result of this he then presented himself at the scales where it was confirmed that some weight was missing.
Evidence was also heard from Mr. David O’Connor, representing Mr. Colin Bowe, trainer of Representing.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the incident was accidental and that the correct saddling procedures had been carried out. In accordance with the provisions of Rule 232, the Stewards disqualified Representing from this race and took no further action.
B.T. O’Connell, rider of Strange Encounter, trained by Mr. Philip Fenton, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran free early on, gave a blow on the home turn and stayed on in the closing stages.
290C Billecart-Salmon Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into the running and riding in the closing stages of Montan (FR), placed second, ridden by D.N. Russell, and trained by Mr. A.J. Martin.
Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned.
In his evidence D.N. Russell stated that a review of this horses form will indicate the manner in which he is consistently ridden but with mixed results. He said he felt that the gelding travelled very easily throughout today and arrived going to the final flight with plenty left. He added that the horse met the hurdle on a long stride, jumped it well and landed at the hind quarters of the winner. However, he said his mount emptied from that point, and despite strong handling close home, he was of the opinion that the horse was not even staying on. He added that in his opinion the horse is very honest but may have an underlying veterinary problem.
In his evidence Mr. Martin supported the views of the rider and also referred to past runs from this gelding. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer which stated that Montan (FR) was found to be clinically abnormal post race.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence of the connections and also of the Turf Club Veterinary Officer, the Stewards took no further action.
290E Ladbrokes.com Steeplechase & P. Townend, rider of Blazing Tempo, trained by Mr. W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was impeded at the start and lost ground. He also reported that his mount made a mistake at the first fence, slipped into the fourth fence and was never comfortable thereafter. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Blazing Tempo was found to be post race normal.
D.J. Condon, rider of Saludos, trained by Mrs John Harrington , reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ducked at the start and whipped around after a fair start had been affected.
290G Mirror (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards fined Mr. H. Smyth, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Jock’s Delight in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

(b), in that he had used his whip when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Having taken his previous record into account, the Stewards therefore severely cautioned him in this regard for the future.
