Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that R.A. Doyle was in breach of R10(2)(b), in that he continued to hit his mount after his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone and of R10(2)(a), in that he used his whip down the shoulder in the forehand position.
The Stewards therefore suspended R.A. Doyle for two race days (4th and 6th November) and advised him to familiarise himself with the content of R10.
Mr. M.J. Grassick accompanied R.A. Doyle at this enquiry.

Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that S.H. James was in breach of Rule 211 (marker poles) and had also breached Rule 214 in that he rode carelessly.
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for six race days (4th, 6th, 11th, 18th, 25th November and 2nd December).
274F Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. P.D. Deegan, trainer of the winner Midnight Soprano, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to the horse’s previous run at Sligo on 3rd August when she finished 10th of 13 finishers and was beaten 20 lengths by the winner Cape Of Good Grace.
Mr. Deegan reported that his charge had gone to Sligo following a good run at Wexford, but she disappointed there and stopped quickly in running. He added that the filly had already had a prior wind operation, but nothing came to his attention at or immediately after the Sligo run. Following a return to exercise and some fast work at home, another problem arose with the filly and this resulted in a second wind operation being performed. He said that, in his opinion, this led to today’s improved performance.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

Prendergast, trainer of the winner Thegondolier, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s previous run at Punchestown where he finished 12th of 18 runners and was beaten 36 lengths by the winner Face Value.
Mr. Prendergast reported that his charge was returning from a near one year layoff in that Punchestown race which was a three year old hurdle. As the horse was a sprint winner over six furlongs, it was felt that he should be held up on that day in order that he would see out the trip. However, he jumped very novicey and never improved from his position towards the rear of the field. Today on the advice of A.P. The Stewards therefore severely cautioned him as to his future responsibilities in this regard.
