On Saturday, 22nd October due to ground conditions

The Turf Club has announced that the Co. Down Staghounds Point to Point scheduled for Loughbrickland in Co. Down has been cancelled on Saturday, 22nd October due to ground conditions.  This fixture has now been rescheduled for Saturday, 26th November 2011.

264F Check Special Offers For Winter Festival (C&G) I.N.H. Flat Race & Mr. W. Harney, trainer of Ballybeg Gent, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries at Punchestown on 12th October that his charge was found to be clinically abnormal post race.

267A Go Racing in Kildare Festival 3-y-o Maiden Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that His Excellency, trained by Mr. Gordon Elliott, was found to be blowing hard post race.

267B Follow Punchestown On Facebook Maiden Hurdle & A.P. Thornton, rider of Rawnaq, trained by Mr. Robert Alan Hennessy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped left throughout.

267C Grabel Mares Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed N.P. Madden rider of Elyaadi (GB), placed third, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that N.P. Madden was in breach of R10(3), in that he failed to give his mount a chance to respond. Having taken his previous excellent record into account, the Stewards cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.

Mrs John Harrington, trainer of Chaperoned, reported to a Turf Club Official that his charge pulled a shoe in running.

D.E. Mullins, rider of Clarach, trained by Mr. A. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well, but weakened quickly on today’s ground and was therefore pulled up.

E.J. O’Connell, rider of Witness Express, trained by Mr. Robert Murphy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount whipped around at the tapes after a fair start had been affected.

Mrs D.A. Love, trainer of Shadow Eile, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Thursday 13th October that her charge was found to be in season post race.

267D Lewis-Crosby Challenge Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed S.W Jackson, rider of Sir Loujay, placed fourth, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that S.W. Jackson was in breach of R10 (2)(f), in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous good record into account, the Stewards severely cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.

K.M. Donoghue, rider of Cadeaux Fax (GB), trained by Mr. Gordon Elliott, reported to a Turf Club Official that his mount lost its action in the closing stages.

267E Trinity College Dublin Horseracing Society Beginners Steeplechase & D.J. Condon, rider of Steviemac, trained by Mr. Gerard Keane, reported to a Turf Club Official that his mount was found to be lame on pulling up post race.

P.W. Flood, rider of Keoghs Bar, trained by Irene J. Monaghan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled and was therefore pulled up.

Punchestown Meeting, 13th October 2011

The Stewards fined the following trainer €200 in respect of his non-runner: Mr. Oliver McKiernan for Happy New Year (passport irregularity).

268A Buy Your 2012 Annual Badge Maiden Hurdle & A.E. Lynch, rider of Seanie Boy, trained by Mr. Paul Stafford, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran very free early on, but eventually settled. He reported that the horse jumped blind at the first two hurdle, but stated that the horse’s jumping improved thereafter. He also reported that his mount passed tired horses in the latter stages, may need a longer trip and easier underfoot conditions.

P. Towend, rider of Mississippi  River, trained by Mr. John E. Kiely, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a bad mistake early on and never travelled thereafter. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Mississippi River was found to be post race normal.

268B Ryan’s Cleaning Events Specialists Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into possible interference both on the approach to and after the final hurdle involving the winner Steps To Freedom, ridden by R.M. Power, and Sailors Warn, ridden by B.J. Geraghty, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings, but cautioned R.M. Power to ride with more care in the future.
Mr. P. Caffrey, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.

268D Buck House Novice Steeplechase & D.N. Russell, rider of Rathlin (GB), trained by Mr. M.F. Morris, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran keen early on and tired from the third last fence. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Rathlin (GB) was found to be blowing hard post race.

268E Star ‘Best For Racing Coverage’ Steeplechase & B.J. Geraghty, rider of Forpadydeplasterer, trained by Mr. Thomas Cooper, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped right throughout. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Forpadydeplasterer was found to be clinically abnormal post race.

Dundalk Meeting, 14th October 2011

The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: N.G. McCullagh replaced R.P. Whelan (Stewards permission – reserve) on Gleadhradh, trained by Mr. J.S. Bolger (fifth race).

269A www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap & Samantha Louise Wynne, rider of Romeo’s On Fire, trained by Mr. G.M. Lyons, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount was slowly away and lost considerable ground.

269B Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden & The Stewards informed Mr. M. Halford, trainer of Arabela, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again. The Stewards also advised Mr. Halford that a recurrence of this behaviour may render the filly liable to suspension.  

Patrick Martin, trainer of California Rose (GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge ran very green.

269C(i) Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C&G) Maiden (Division One) & The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the latter stages involving the winner Rogue Element, ridden by J.P. Murtagh, Storm Lightning (GB), ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed second, and Go On Murt, ridden by B.A. Curtis, placed fifth.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action. 

269C(ii) Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C&G) Maiden (Division Two) & The Stewards informed Mr. Patrick Martin, trainer of Bigearsonmyright (FR), that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again. The Stewards also advised Mr. Martin that a recurrence of this behaviour may render the gelding liable to suspension.

F.M. Berry, rider of Canaille (USA), trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount became very upset in the stalls and missed the break and as a result never got into the race.

269E Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Handicap & The Stewards enquired into an incident soon after the turn into the straight involving Posh Cracker (USA), ridden by J.P. Murtagh, Princess Severus, ridden by F.M. Berry, both unplaced, and Lady Fashion (GB), ridden by W.J. Supple, which stumbled and dislodged her rider at this point.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
 In his evidence J.P.Murtagh stated that his mount shied outwards when a grey horse appeared quickly on his inside, while in his evidence W.J. Supple stated that his mount consequently clipped the heels of Posh Cracker (USA) and he was dislodged.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the incident was accidental in nature and they therefore took no further action.

269F www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap & G.F. Carroll, rider of Charger (GB), trained by Mr. John C. McConnell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount burst a blood vessel and was therefore pulled up.

F.M. Berry, rider of Gap Of Dunloe, trained by Mr. Charles O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well, but failed to accelerate when asked for an effort. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Gap Of Dunloe was excitable, but was otherwise found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Subsequently the trainer reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Tuesday 18th October that his charge was found to have a nasal discharge post race.

Mr. Anthony P. Kelly, trainer of Thebarberkelly, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday, 17th October that his charge was found to be lame post race.

Downpatrick Meeting, 15th October 2011

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: I.J. McCarthy replaced M.J. Bolger (see enquiry) on Cyrus, trained by Mr. John C. McConnell (first race) and P. Townend replaced E.F. Power (injured) on Mrs Diniver, trained by Mr. Liam Roche (third race).

270A William Hill Northern Ireland Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards fined M.J. Bolger €200 as per terms of Rule 196 (v) for failing to present himself to be weighed out for his intended mount Cyrus in this race within the time designated.

D.N. Russell, rider of Rocky Wednesday, trained by Mr. M.J. Grassick, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not respond when asked to pick up. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Rocky Wednesday was found to be post race normal.

270B Johnny Cash Tribute European Breeders Fund Maiden Hurdle & D.N. Russell, rider of Kilrush, trained by Mr. Garvan Donnelly, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost its action and was therefore pulled up.

270C mobile.williamhill.com Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving the winner Castle Ranger, ridden by Mr.M.J O’Connor, and Utrillo’s Art, ridden by Mr. R.J. Kiely, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that interference did take place, but they could not be satisfied that Castle Ranger had improved his finishing position as a result of this interference and so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. The Stewards were, however, of the opinion that Mr. O’Connor had ridden carelessly. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (29th and 30th October).

The Stewards interviewed Mr. R.J. Kiely, rider of Utrillo’s Art, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. Kiely was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore cautioned him accordingly.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Wango, trained by Mr. Lorcan Joseph Donnelly, lost a hind shoe in running, but was otherwise found to be post race normal.

Mr. A.J. Doyle, rider of Banian (FR), trained by Mr. Gordon Michael Doyle, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount may not have handled today’s ground.

270D Boy Named Sue Beginners Steeplechase & The Stewards fined Mr. Peter Casey, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Equation in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Bates was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore cautioned him accordingly.

The Stewards interviewed J.L. Cullen, rider of Duroob (GB), placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that J.L. Cullen was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore cautioned him accordingly.

270F Ring Of Fire Beginners Steeplechase & M.P. Butler, rider of Safari Sunup, trained by Mr. Eoin Doyle, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled, jumped carefully and may not have handled today’s ground.

P. Townend, rider of A Little Different, trained by Mr. Seamus O’Farrell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was pulled up lame.

E.J. O’Connell, rider of Knocklayde Euro, trained by Mr. J.J. Lambe, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost its action after the third last fence and was therefore pulled up.

Cork Meeting, 15th October 2011

The Stewards fined the following trainer €200 in respect of her non-runner: Sarah Dawson for Laldie (transport difficulties).

271C Brinny Awards Party Handicap & The Stewards interviewed R.P. Whelan, rider of the winner Wellmarked, concerning his use of the whip.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he had been excessive with his whip, but felt that his mount responded well in the tight finish.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that R.P. Whelan was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for six race days.

P.J. Smullen, rider of Judies Child, trained by Mr. W. McCreery, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran flat and did not act on today’s ground.

271E Coolmore Rip Van Winkle Maiden & The Stewards informed Ms. Margaret Mullins, trainer of Pepparpot, that her charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.

The Stewards informed Mr. Patrick J. Flynn, trainer of Nadia Naes, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.

The Stewards informed Mr. E.J. O’Grady, trainer of Amiens Street, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.

271G Follow Cork Racecourse On Facebook Maiden & The Stewards informed Ms. Joanna Morgan, trainer of Lady Of Russia, that her charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.

J.P. O’Brien, rider of Monahans Girl, trained by Mr. S. Slevin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran green, did not handle today’s ground and tired in the closing stages.

The Stewards fined Mr. D.K. Weld, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Irish Kitten (USA) in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

Cork Meeting, 16th October 2011

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: The following riders replaced D.J. Bates (injured):- S.G. Gray rode Penny’s Bill, trained by Miss Elizabeth Doyle (fourth race) and D.G. Hogan rode Mount Welcome, trained by Mr. P.J. Rothwell (sixth race); D.J. Condon rode Sober Sailor (reserve), trained by Mr. A.J. Martin (first race).

272A www.corkracecourse.ie Maiden Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Knights Templar, trained by Mr. Ciaran O’Brien, lost his right front shoe in running and was found to be lame post race.

272C Christmas Party Raceday December 11th Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed S.J. Gray, rider of Grandparson, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that, in hindsight, the final few strikes of the whip were unnecessary.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that S.J. Gray was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip unnecessarily when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (30th and 31st October).

The Stewards interviewed A.E. Lynch, rider of On The Button, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that, in hindsight, the final few strikes of the whip were unnecessary.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that A.E. Lynch was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip unnecessarily when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for seven race days.

The Stewards interviewed I.J. McCarthy, rider of Sorted, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that, in hindsight, the final few strikes of the whip were unnecessary.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that I.J. McCarthy was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip unnecessarily when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for seven race days (30th and 31st October, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 10th November).

272D Follow Us On Twitter Kinsale Handicap Steeplechase & D.N. Russell, rider of Free World (FR), trained by Mr. A.L.T. Moore, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was badly hampered by a faller in the straight.

272G paddypower.com Cork Grand National November 6th (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the latter stages involving Mini Vic, ridden by Mr. J.T. Rath, placed fourth, and Cill Airne, ridden by Miss A. O’Brien, placed fifth.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that interference had occurred and that the fourth placed horse had improved his finishing position as a result of that interference. The Stewards therefore amended the Judge’s placings and advised Mr. Rath to ride with more care in the future. The amended placings should now read: Fourth: Cill Airne, Fifth: Mini Vic.

Naas Meeting, 16th October 2011

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: M.C. Hussey rode Swift Magic (reserve), trained by Mr. Thomas Cleary (second race); W.M. Lordan replaced E.J. McNamara (Stewards permission) on Duchess of Foxland, trained by Mr. Mark L. Fagan (fourth race) and L.F. Roche rode Highly Efficient (GB) (reserve), trained by Mr. Thomas Mullins (seventh race).

273C Derrinstown Stud European Breeders Fund Birdcatcher Premier Nursery & B.A. Curtis, rider of Battleroftheboyne, trained by Mr. Michael Mulvany, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung left throughout.

J.P. O’Brien, rider of Choir, trained by Mr. A.P. O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount may not have handled today’s ground. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Choir was found to be post race normal.

273D Profile Systems Kommerling C70 Hurdle & The Stewards fined Mr. E. Bolger, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Garde Champetre (FR) in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

273E Profile Systems Handicap Hurdle & P. Carberry, rider of Another Palm, trained by Mr. Noel Meade, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled in this race.

273F Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Garnet Stakes & J.P. Murtagh, rider of One Spirit, trained by Mr. F. Dunne, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was keen in the early stages then ran short of room in the straight. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that One Spirit was found to be post race normal.

273G Naas October Premier Handicap & The Stewards enquired into an incident early in the straight  involving Tawaagg (GB), ridden by C.P. Hoban, placed third, Obligation (FR), ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed fourth, and Mountain Pride, ridden by G.F. Carroll, unplaced, after it appeared that interference had taken place.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards informed J.A. Heffernan that they were giving him the benefit of the doubt on this occasion and took no further action.
