Maiden Race for 5-y-o Geldings
The Stewards fined Mr. Denis Paul Murphy €100 for failing to present the passport in respect of the winner, According to Trev, as required under Regulation 22 (ix).
The following trainers were fined €200 in each case for the non-notification of a Veterinary Certificate in accordance with the provisions of Rule 194 (v) (vi):- Mr. Paul A. Roche for Whiskey And Red (lame) at Gowran Park on 30th September; Mr. P.T. Flavin for Big Dano (lame) at Gowran Park on 30th September and Mr. D.M. Leigh for Joint Decision (stone bruise) at Dundalk on 30th September.
Tipperary Meeting, 4th October 2011
The Stewards fined the following trainer €320 in respect of his non-runner: Mr. Noel Meade for Mickelson (declared in error).
260A(i) Visit Tipperary Maiden Hurdle (Division One) & P. Townend, rider of Back In A Tic, trained by Mr. Colin Kidd, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled.
K.T. Coleman, rider of Erin’s Joy, trained by Mr. John J. Walsh, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his saddle slipped early on and that he therefore pulled his mount up.
260A(ii) Visit Tipperary Maiden Hurdle (Division Two) & The Stewards interviewed I.J. McCarthy, rider of Grandpa Jo, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages when out of contention.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that his mount was hanging and he used the whip continuously to try and keep him straight.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that I.J. McCarthy was in breach of R10 (2) (b), in that he continued to hit the horse after his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. In view of his previous record, the Stewards therefore suspended him for three race days (20th, 22nd, and 23rd October).
The Stewards interviewed R.J. Jones, rider of Queen of the Hill, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages when out of contention.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that his mount was backing off hurdles and he had used his whip to encourage her to jump. He added that she had unseated N.P. Madden on her previous outing at Navan in similar circumstances.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that R.J. Jones was in breach of R10 (2) (b), in that he continued to hit the horse after his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. In view of his excellent previous record, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (20th and 22nd October).
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Deep Determination, trained by Mr. C. Roche, was found to be lame post race.
E.J. McNamara, rider of Knights Templar, trained by Mr. Ciaran O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped poorly, made up ground before the home straight, but tired from the second last hurdle.
T.J. Doyle, rider of Thelifeof, trained by Mr. John A. Supple, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was slowly away, jumped slowly early on, travelled well later in the race, but had nothing left in the closing stages.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Two In A Row, trained by Mr. Patrick G. Kelly, was found to have soft tissue swelling behind the saddle area post race.
260C Tipperary Supporter’s Club Handicap Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Mr Pernickety, trained by Mr. R.P. Burns, was found to be clinically abnormal post race.
260E Blue & Gold Beginners Steeplechase & E.J. O’Connell, rider of Set Dancing, trained by Mr. John Monroe, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a bad respiratory noise in running.
Mr. Gerard Mullins, trainer of Celtic Wish, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Thursday 6th October that his charge was found to be lame post race.
The Stewards fined Miss Tara Lee Cogan, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Ballylennontommy in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
260F Finale Of 2011 I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards interviewed Mr. A. McCurtin, rider of High Class Show, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that his mount had been placed in recent runs and he was trying his best to get her a winning bracket.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. McCurtin had used his whip with excessive force and frequency. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for five race days (20th, 22nd, 23rd, 26th and 27th October).
Navan Meeting, 5th October 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: D.A. Parkes rode Afterglow (GB) (see enquiry), trained by Mr. David Marnane (second race).
261B Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap & The Stewards considered a report from Mr. David Marnane, trainer of Afterglow (GB), regarding the late nomination of D.A. Parkes, rider, for his charge in this race in which he stated that it was not easy to secure a suitable apprentice jockey for this apprentice race. In the report he stated that he contacted several agents but to no avail and that D.A. Parkes was eventually recommended to him by another colleague
Having considered the report, the Stewards allowed the nomination and took no further action.
Ms. Joanna Morgan, trainer of Lake Wanaka, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her charge usually races keenly, but never travelled today and weakened quickly.
261E Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C&G) Maiden & The Stewards informed Mr. Patrick Martin, trainer of Bigearsonmyright (FR), that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.
J.P. O’Brien, rider of Warwick Avenue, trained by Mr. A.P. O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not handle today’s soft ground and tired in the straight. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Warwick Avenue was fund to be post race normal.
261G Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden & The Stewards enquired into an incident early in the straight involving Statesmanship (GB), ridden by K.J. Manning, placed second, Forgot To Call (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed fifth, Salam Alaykum, ridden by J.F. Egan, and To The Sky, ridden by P. Shanahan, both unplaced, after it appeared that the latter two horses received interference and had to check to avoid colliding with boundary markers.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that C.D. Hayes had ridden carelessly, and having taken his previous record in this regard into account they therefore suspended him for four race days (19th, 21st, 28th and 30th October).
The Stewards informed Mr. G.M. Lyons, trainer or Cool Kid, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Sunset Stanza (GB), trained by Mr. D.K. Weld, was found to be post race normal.
Tramore Meeting, 6th October 2011
The Stewards fined the following trainer €200 in respect of his non-runner: Mr. Liam Roche for Mrs Diniver (transport difficulties).
262A www.tramore-racecourse.com Hurdle & Mr. Colin Kidd, trainer of Last Whistle, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge slipped on the first bend and lost interest thereafter.
The Stewards fined Mr. R. Donohoe, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Fireball Sally in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
262B Graun Hill Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed M.P. Butler, rider of Beliar (GER), placed third, concerning the use of the whip.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he was excessive with the whip but felt that his mount responded well.
Having viewed a recoridng of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that M.P. Butler was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his excellent record into account, the Stewards therefore severely cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.
D.N. Russell, rider of Maturus Ardor (GER), trained by Mr. Michael Winters, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well before he weakened quickly in the closing stages. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Maturus Ardor (GER) was found to be post race normal.
262C Tramore Racecourse Supporters Club Handicap Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Golan Guy, trained by Mr. A.J. Martin, was found to be lame post race.
262D Dunhill Beginners Steeplechase & D.G. Hogan, rider of Rock County, trained by C.A. Murphy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped carefully in the early stages.
R. Walsh, rider of Uncle Taffy, trained by Mr. A.J. Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled and did not respond when put under pressure. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Uncle Taffy was found to be post race normal.
Mr. M. F. Morris, trainer of Easily Pleased, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.
Liam P. Cusack, trainer of Last Time D’albain (FR), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge did not handle today’s ground.
262F Jim Harney & Joe O’Shea Celebration Handicap Steeplechase & P.T. Enright, rider of Canitellyou, trained by Mr. Paul Cashman, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled and was therefore pulled up.
262G Tramore Racecourse 1912 – 2012 Centenary Ladies I.N.H. Flat Race & Miss J.M. Mangan, rider of Fairy Court trained by Mr. Michael John O’Connor, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her saddle slipped and that she therefore pulled up her mount.
Mr. Sean Aherne, trainer of Analyse That, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.
Dundalk Meeting, 7th October 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: S. Foley rode Baiadilla Beach (reserve), trained by Mr. F. Costello (eighth race).
The Stewards fined the following trainer €200 in respect of his non-runner: Mr. P.D. Deegan for Moonreach.
263E Come On Ireland Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from Ms. Joanna Morgan, trainer of the winner Ancient Sands, regarding the apparent improvement in form of her charge compared with the horse’s previous run on the flat at Leopardstown on 11th August where he finished 11th of 13 and was beaten nine and three quarter lengths.
Ms. Morgan reported that this horse was operated on for his wind in the Spring and has taken time to come back to himself. She added that the Leopardstown race was an apprentice race where whips were not carried and this probably did not suit the horse as he needs strong handling.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanations offered.
263F Celtic Rivals Handicap & B.A. Curtis, rider of Home Secretary (GB), trained by Mr. Garvan Donnelly, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly and that the animal was left with nowhere to go in the straight.
E.J. McNamara, rider of Carlito Brigante, trained by Mr. Gordon Elliott, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well to the turn in, but weakened quickly soon after. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Carlito Brigante was found to be clinically abnormal post race.
Fairyhouse Meeting, 8th October 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: J.L. Cullen replaced M.W. Bowes (injured) on Takestan, trained by Mr. Patrick O. Brady (third race).
264A Admission Only €5 Mares Maiden Hurdle & P.G. Callaghan, rider of World Citizen, trained by Mr. Desmond McDonogh, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was slowly away and ran green.
264D Visit www.fairyhouse.ie For Special Offers Maiden Hurdle & Mr. Michael Cunningham, trainer of Thanks For Smoking, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge choked in running.
264E(i) Follow Us On Facebook Handicap Hurdle (Division One) & J.P. Holly, rider of Killcara Boy (GB), trained by Mr. John A. Supple, reported to a Turf Club Officical that his mount was found to have a burst blood vessel post race. This was confirmed to the Stewards by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.
Mr. Oliver Finnegan, trainer of Croi Laidir, reported to a Turf Club Official that his charge was found to be lame following a veterinary examination by the Racecourse Veterinary Officer. .
264E(ii) Follow Us On Facebook Handicap Hurdle (Division Two) & The Stewards enquired into an incident approximately five furlongs from the finish involving Whitehead Lad, ridden by R. Loughran, Now Were Broke, ridden by P.D. Kennedy, and Que Beauty, ridden by T.J. Doyle, all unplaced, after it appeared that Now Were Broke and Que Beauty both ran short of room.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and they therefore took no further action.
R. Loughran, rider of Whitehead Lad, trained by Mr. William J. Fitzpatrick, reported at a Stewards Enquiry that his mount hung throughout and jumped to his right on occasions.
Mr. Desmond McDonogh, trainer of Realta Rathcabhain, reported to a Turf Club Official that his charge was examined by the Racecourse Veterinary Officer and was found to be severely distressed.
264F Check Special Offers For Winter Festival (C&G) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards interviewed Mr. M.P. Fogarty, rider of the winner King Malik, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. Fogarty had breached R10 (2) (f). Having taken Mr Fogarty’s previous record for 2011 into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for seven race days (22nd, 23rd, 26th, 27th, 29th, 30th and 31st October).
The Stewards fined Mr. Michael Hourigan, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Danaghers Cross in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
Curragh Meeting, 9th October 2011
265C Stephen Quirke Memorial Apprentice Handicap & S.C. Cronin, rider of My St Clair, trained by Mr. C. Byrnes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount accidently clipped heels and stumbled early in the home straight.
265E Mongey Communications European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden & The Stewards interviewed D.P. McDonogh, rider of Gris Ladera, placed third, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards took no further action.
The Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after the start of this race involving Azores, ridden by J.P. O’Brien, placed second, Gris Ladera, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed third, Cnocan Diva, ridden by W.M. Lordan, placed fourth, Yorkshire Pearl, ridden by S.H. James, and Dustland Fairytale, ridden by R. Dawson, both unplaced, after it appeared interference took place resulting in Azores clipping heels and stumbling. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that any interference which took place was as a result of general bunching and they therefore took no further action.
265G Hackett’s Bookmakers Irish Cesarewitch & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Dimona, trained by Mr. John M. Oxx, was found to be stiff behind post race.
Limerick Meeting, 9th October 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: J.L. Cullen replaced M.W. Bowes (injured) on Grandeur Cappy, trained by Mr. Steven E. Ryder (seventh race).
The Stewards fined the following trainer €400 in respect of his non-runner: Mr. C.F. Swan for Cloone Rocket (€200 for ground conditions and €200 for late withdrawal).
266B Beamish Stout Handicap Hurdle & T.J. Doyle, rider of Talk About Miltown, trained by Mr. John E. Kiely, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled very well in the early stages but weakened quickly in the straight. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Talk About Miltown was found to be blowing hard post race.
266D Oakbruce Properties Handicap Hurdle & Mr. Edward Stanners, trainer of Carrigdhoun, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was having his first race today after a break and blew up.
