247A www.ballinroberacecourse.ie Maiden Hurdle & N.P. Madden, rider of Urhavinalaugh, trained by Mr. Niall Madden, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running.
E247B Follow Ballinrobe On Facebook Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards fined Mr. F.G. Hand, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Bank The Bucks in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
247C Sponsors Day At Ballinrobe Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Mrs Pauline Gavin, trainer of the winner Lillymile, regarding the apparent improvement in form of her charge compared with the horse’s previous run at Roscommon on 5th September where she pulled up in the race won by Madam Bovary.
Mrs. Gavin reported that this filly was having her first run under her care at Roscommon having acquired her from another trainer. She added that the filly had not run since January 2011 prior to Roscommon and was very free which resulted in her failing to finish on very testing ground. She referred to the fact that ten of the fifteen runners in this race failed to complete the course that night. She felt that her charge relaxed early on and settled today which allowed her to handle the heavy underfoot conditions.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

247D Ballinrobe On Course Vets Handicap Hurdle & D.J. Condon, rider of Never A Secret, trained by Mr. Hugh Paul Finnegan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled throughout. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Never A Secret was found to be post race normal.
247G Come Racing In Ballinrobe 2012 Beginners Steeplechase & N.P. Madden, rider of La Sarrazine (FR), trained by Mr. Niall Madden, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well early on but weakened very quickly and was therefore pulled up. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that La Sarrazine (FR), was found to be post race normal.
P.W. Flood, rider of Last Time D’albain (FR), trained by Mr. Liam P. Cusack, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well early on, was outpaced mid race but stayed on past tired horses in the closing stages and may benefit from a longer trip.
Downpatrick Meeting, 21st September 2011
The Stewards fined the following trainer €200 in respect of his non-runner: Mr. Colin Bowe for She Will Return (off feed).
248C Proctor & Gamble Maiden Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that King’sandqueen’s, trained by Mr. Colin Bowe, was found to be lame post race.
248D Moy Park Beginners Steeplechase & E.J. O’Connell, rider of Table Forty Six, trained by Mr. K.J. Condon, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly left in this race.
M.P. Walsh, rider of About The House, trained by Mr. Ronald O’Leary, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his saddle slipped early in the race, that his mount jumped poorly and that he therefore pulled the horse up.
248E Kerry Foods European Breeders Fund Beginners Steeplechase & B.J. Geraghty, rider of Asymmetrical, trained by Mr. A.J. Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made some mistakes and became detached from the rest of the field. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Asymmetrical was found to be lame behind post race.
E.J. O’Connell, rider of Yachvili, trained by Mr. J.J. Lambe, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a bad mistake at the first fence and lost interest thereafter.
248F Linden Foods Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. M. McDonagh, trainer of the winner Robertstown Rover, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to the horse’s recent form.
Mr. McDonagh reported that a change of rider and also the easier underfoot conditions appears to have brought about an improved performance from his charge.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
Fairyhouse Meeting, 22nd September 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: N.P. Madden replaced A.P. Crowe (injured) on Micks, trained by Mr. C. Roche (fifth race).
286A Europe V America Maiden Hurdle & T.P. Treacy, rider of Johnny G, trained by Ms. Helen P. Markham, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his saddle slipped and that he therefore pulled up his mount.
K.M. Donoghue, rider of Rawnaq, trained by Mr. Robert Alan Hennessy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped left at a number of hurdles.
B.J. Geraghty, rider of Easy Mate, trained by Mr. C.A. Murphy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was outpaced early on and gave a heave on the home turn. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Easy Mate was found to be showing signs of coming into season post race.
Mr. E.D. Delany, trainer of Zara’s Girl, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Friday 23rd September that his charge was found to be in season post race.
286C Fairyhouse Welcomes The Solheim Cup To Meath Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed G.N. Fox, rider of Shabra Charity, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that G.N. Fox was in breach of R10 (3) in that he had failed to give his mount time to respond. Having taken his recent record in this regard into account the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (6th and 8th October) and instructed him to attend R.A.C.E for a one day tuition on the correct use of the whip.
The Stewards enquired into possible interference between the final two hurdles involving the winner Plan A, ridden by D.J. Condon, and Takeyourcapoff, ridden by R.M. Power, placed fifth. The Stewards also enquired into further possible interference after the final hurdle involving the winner and Shabra Charity, ridden by G.N. Fox, placed second.
Evidence in relation to both cases was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the winner had caused interference, but were satisfied that he had not improved his placing in either case. Consequently they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings.
The Stewards were, however, of the opinion that D.J. Condon had ridden carelessly in both cases of interference, and having taken his excellent previous record in this regard into account, they suspended him for one race day (6th October).
286D I.N.H. Stallion Owners European Breeders Fund Novice Hurdle & P. Carberry, rider of Jakros, trained by Mr. Noel Meade, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hit the second last hurdle and lost his action for a number of strides.
D.N. Russell, rider of Minella Humour, trained by Mr. John J. Nallen, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was unable to go the early pace and became detached, but stayed on in the latter stages.
P. Townend, rider of Black Rock Lake, trained by Mr. T.G. McCourt, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost its action before the third last hurdle and was therefore pulled up.
286E(ii) €5 Admission Handicap Hurdle & D.N. Russell, rider of Giant Sequoia (USA), trained by Mr. John A. Supple, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was hampered at the third last hurdle.
286F Bobbyjo Restaurant At Fairyhouse (Ladies) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards enquired into an incident approximately four furlongs from the finish involving Gentle Paddy, ridden by Ms. L. O’Neill, faller, and Slievegullion Girl, ridden by Miss L.Dowdall, unplaced, after it appeared that the former clipped heels and fell.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were unable to apportion blame to any rider and therefore took no further action.

Miss A. Foley, rider of Knockmehill Lady, trained by Miss M.M. Gannon, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount hung very badly in the straight.
Miss. C.L. Fahey, rider of Whynotgiveup, trained by Mr. P.G. Fahey, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her saddle slipped in this race.
Listowel Meeting, 23rd September 2011
The Stewards granted permission for fence number 6 to be omitted from all steeplechases at this meeting in the interest of safety due to ground conditions.
342A M.J. Carroll Arro Maiden Hurdle & R. Walsh, rider of Duc De Savoie (USA), trained by Mr. D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled in the latter stages. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Duc De Savoie was found to be clinically normal post race.
B.M. Cash, rider of Mundher, trained by Mr. Denis W. Cullen, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled on today’s ground.
342B Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into an incident turning into the straight involving Sean Airgead, ridden by D.R. Fox, placed third, and El Romo, ridden by J.S. McGarvey, unplaced, after it appeared that Moving On, ridden by S.A. Harding, fell and brought down Garlough, ridden by B. Hayes.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned with the exception of S.A. Harding who, having been injured in the incident, was unable to attend the enquiry.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and took no further action.
342D Allman Contracts Limited Beginners Steeplechase & P.T. Enright, rider of Rock the Bock, trained by Mr. C. Byrnes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled in the early on before staying on past beaten horses in the closing stages.
B.T. O’Connell, rider of Son Of Oscar, trained by Mr. Philip Fenton, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled on today’s ground.
342E Charlie Chute Memorial Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards interviewed Miss N. Carberry, rider of Pocket Reader (GB), concerning her riding in the latter stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that her mount jumped the second last fence well, but his stride shortened approaching the last fence where he fell. She added that in hindsight she should have pulled her mount up before the obstacle.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards advised Miss Carberry that she should have pulled her mount up at an earlier stage and severely cautioned her concerning her future responsibilities in this regard.
M.J. Ferris, rider of Isourbell, trained by Mr. Sean Aherne, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not handle today’s ground and was therefore pulled up.
Dundalk Meeting, 23rd September 2011
249A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Premier Nursery Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. James Stack, Authorised representative of Mr. T. Stack, trainer of the winner Hestian, regarding the apparent improvement in form of their charge compared to the horse’s previous run at York on the 18th August where he finished 19th of 20 finishers and was beaten 20 lengths by the winner Bogart.
Mr. Stack reported that their charge had won at Naas on good ground in a very fast time prior to his race at York where he travelled well to half way before stopping quickly in the dead ground. He said the horse returned to his favoured fast surface today and this, in his opinion, brought about the improved performance.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanation offered.
The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final one and a half furlongs involving Srucahan, ridden by L.F. Roche, placed third, Limetree Lady (GB), ridden by W.M. Lordan, placed fourth, and Battleroftheboyne, ridden by B.A. Curtis, unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. The Stewards did, however, consider that L.F. Roche had ridden improperly and they therefore suspended him for two race days (7th and 9th October).
249B Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden & C.P. Hoban, rider of Oh So Quaint, trained by Mr. A.L.T. Moore, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount reared when the stalls opened.
J.F. Egan, rider of Hes Our Music, trained by Mr. Patrick J. Flynn, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was drawn very wide and that he dropped him in. He said he had to switch the horse out early in the straight as he resented the kickback, but that the animal ran on well on the outside in the final furlong.
249D(i) Dundalk Stadium On Facebook Handicap (Division One) & The Stewards enquired into an incident about two furlongs from the finish involving Shirley Schmidt, ridden by D.E. Mullins, placed fifth, See You Smile, ridden by D.J. Benson, and Luckydolly, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, both unplaced, after it appeared that the latter received interference.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.E. Mullins had ridden carelessly and having taken his previous record in this regard into account they therefore severely cautioned him.
Mr. Timothy Doyle, trainer, accompanied D.J. Benson at this enquiry.
J.A. Heffernan, rider of Luckydolly, trained by Mr. F. Costello, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount received interference about two furlongs from the finish, had to check and was eased.
P.J. Smullen, rider of Painted Fingers, trained by Mr. Timothy Doyle, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount moved poorly throughout.
249D(ii) Dundalk Stadium On Facebook Handicap (Division Two) & The Stewards interviewed D. Fitzpatrick rider of Captain Henry, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D. Fitzpatrick had used his whip improperly in accordance with R10. Having taken into consideration the fact that this was his first ride, the Stewards severely cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.
Mrs Aileen Lynam, Authorised representative of Mr. Edward Lynam, Master of D. Fitzpatrick, attended this enquiry.
S.H. James, rider of Liberty To Rock, trained by Mr. J.T. Gorman, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount felt flat throughout the race. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Liberty To Rock was found to be post race normal.
P.J. Smullen, rider of Bangalore Diamond, trained by Mr. T.G. McCourt, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running.
249E Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap & The Stewards enquired into an incident early in the straight involving the winner Navy List (FR), ridden by S.H. James, Leaves You Baby, ridden by M.M. Monaghan, placed third, and Benefit Of Porter, ridden by R.A. Doyle, unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that M.M. Monaghan had caused interference by riding carelessly and they therefore suspended him for one race day (7th October).
Mr. M. Halford, Master of M.M. Monaghan, and Ms. Joanna Morgan representing R.A. Doyle, also attended this enquiry.
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Leaves You Baby, ridden by M.M. Monaghan, placed third, Avanti Albert, ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed fourth, and Penthesilea Eile (USA), ridden by R.P. Whelan, unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action. In making their decision the Stewards gave M.M. Monaghan the benefit of the doubt regarding his manoeuvre in the closing stages.

250C Gowran Racing Festival Next Weekend Handicap & D.M. Grant, rider of Mamma Rosa, trained by Mr. Patrick J. Flynn, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly throughout. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Mamma Rosa was found to be post race normal.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Do The Dosanova, trained by Mr. J.S. Bolger, was found to be post race normal.
250E Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Nursery & C.D. Hayes, rider of Slim Chance, trained by Mr. J.G. Coogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount became upset prior to racing, ran keenly early on and tired in the straight.
250F Golf Members At Gowran Park Handicap & K.J. Manning, rider of Gleadhradh, trained by Mr. J.S. Bolger, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost his action and was eased.
W.M. Lordan, rider of Buy Back Bob, trained by Mr. A.J. Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly in this race.
Navan Meeting, 24th September 2011
251A Navan Maiden Hurdle & R.J. Jones, rider of Akiem, trained by Mr. T. Hogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost both front shoes in running.
T.J. Doyle, rider of Mackessy (GB), trained by Mr. John A. Supple, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount slipped up on the flat after the fourth last hurdle.
D.N. Russell, rider of Offaly Allstar (GB), trained by Mr. A.J. Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a bad mistake at the second last hurdle and that the bridle went over his ears so he therefore eased the horse.
251B Racing Again Wedensday 5th October Mares Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed Mrs Mary Whelehan, trainer, regarding the poor performance of her charge Bridge Lady in this race.
Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned.
Following the running of this race Bridge Lady was examined by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer at the request of the Stewards and was found to be post race normal.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards, acting under terms of Rule 212 (b) suspended Bridge Lady for 60 days.
Mrs Mary Whelehan, trainer of Bridge Lady, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Tuesday 27th September that her charge was found to have a tendon injury post race.
D.N. Russell, rider of Our Ellie B, trained by Mr. Thomas Cooper, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount finished lame.
251C Albany Hurdle & D.J. Condon, rider of Atlanta Falcon, trained by Mr. Gordon Elliott, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled and weakened quickly.
251E Le Grande Steeplechase & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Adams Island, trained by Mr. Paul Nolan, was found to be post race normal.
251F Kells Beginners Steeplechase & D.G. Hogan, rider of Derinlaue, trained by Mr. C.F. Swan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount slipped up independently at the entrance to the back straight.
Mr. Conor O’Dwyer, trainer of Sylvan Approach, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge broke down and was therefore pulled up.
251G Garlow Cross I.N.H. Flat Race & Mr. D. Kiely, rider of Ten Friends, trained by Mr. John E. Kiely, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount weakened quickly. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Ten Friends was blowing hard, but was otherwise found to be post race normal.
Clonmel Meeting, 25th September 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: S.J. Gray replaced E.F. Power (unwell) on Crannagh, trained by Mr. M.J. Tynan (first race).
252B Laganore Maiden Hurdle & A representative for Mr. P.J. Rothwell, trainer of Prima Facia (GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that the horse was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.
Mr. M.P. Fogarty, rider of Luna Runner, trained by Mr. C.A. Murphy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled or jumped on today’s ground. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Luna Runner was found to be blowing hard and showing signs of being in season post race.
252C www.clonmelraces.ie Novice Hurdle & Mr. R. O’Connor, trainer of Stamford Ridge, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.
252D Tipp FM Family Raceday Handicap Hurdle & D.N. Russell, rider of Ferris Bueller (GB), trained by Mr. Conor O’Dwyer, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Ferris Bueller (GB) sustained a cut in running and was found to be blowing hard post race.
B.J. Cooper, rider of Inner Voice (USA), trained by Mr. J.J. Lambe, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running.
Ms. M. Flynn, trainer of Too Wild For Der, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her charge travelled well but weakened quickly from four out. The trainer subsequently reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 26th September that her charge was found to be lame on his off fore post race.
252F CRSC 25th Anniversary Handicap Steeplechase & D.N. Russell, rider of Sense Of Awareness, trained by Mr. Liam P. Cusack, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount felt lame and that he therefore pulled the animal up.
Curragh Meeting, 25th September 2011
253A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden & The Stewards received a report from Mr. Ion Hamilton, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the failure of J.A. Heffernan, rider of Wave, placed fifth to weigh in after this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that it was a complete oversight on his part and he apologised for his mistake.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that JA Heffernan was in breach of Rule 227 (i) in that he failed to present himself to Scales to be weighed in. Acting under the terms of Rule 230(ii), the Stewards disqualified Wave from fifth place and severely cautioned J.A. Heffernan concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.
The Stewards informed Mr. Bernard Anthony Heffernan, trainer of Miami Heat, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.
253C C.L. Weld Park Stakes & The Stewards interviewed J.A. Heffernan, rider of Homecoming Queen, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that J.A. Heffernan was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and failed to give his mount time to respond. Having taken his recent record in this regard into account, they therefore suspended him for three race days (9th, 14th and 15th October).
253E Juddmonte Beresford Stakes & The Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after the turn into the straight involving Akeed Mofeed (GB), ridden by J.P. Murtagh, placed second, Athens, ridden by C. O’Donoghue, placed third, and Furners Green, ridden by J.P. O’Brien, placed fourth, after it appeared that interference had taken place.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while interference did occur, it was accidental in nature and they therefore took no further action.

253F Derek O’Sullivan Memorial Apprentice Handicap & The Stewards interviewed C.T. Keane, rider of On The Loose, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned in the presence of his master Mr. Gerard Keane, trainer.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that C.T. Keane was in breach of Regulation 10 2 (b) in that he had used his whip unnecessarily when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (9th and 14th October).
253G Free Admission Curragh Races 9th October Maiden & The Stewards informed Mr. J. Larkin, trainer of Matua Flyer, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.
