230F Blue And Gold Handicap Hurdle & Andrew J. McNamara, rider of Rhum And Coke (FR), trained by Mr. E.J. O’Grady, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped badly, hung and was therefore pulled up. (not as previously published for Shady Gloom)

Listowel Meeting, 12th September 2011

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of rider at this meeting: The following riders replaced P. Carberry (injured):- D.J. Condon rode Trendelenburg, trained by Mr. Gordon Elliott and P. Townend rode Back In A Tic, trained by Mr. Colin Kidd (fifth race).

The Stewards fined the following trainer €200 in respect of his non-runner: Mr. P.D. Deegan for Khaos (off feed).

240C Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Premier Nursery Handicap & F.M. Berry, rider of Hurricane Ridge, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Hurricane Ridge was found to be post race normal.

Listowel Meeting, 13th September 2011

The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: P.J. Smullen rode Angel Bright (see enquiry), trained by Mr. D.K. Weld (first race).

The Stewards fined the following trainer €200 in each case in respect of his non-runners: Mr. David Wachman for Monatogher, Pyrenean Music, Desert Thunder and Port Elizabeth (all unsuitable ground).

241A Jet O’Carroll Memorial Median Auction Maiden & The Stewards interviewed Mr. Patrick O’Brien, Authorised Representative for Mr. D.K. Weld, trainer of Angel Bright, concerning the failure to nominate a rider before the designated time for this horse.
Evidence was heard from Mr. O’Brien.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted the explanation offered, but reminded Mr. Weld, through his representative, of his future responsibilities in this regard. 

J.A. Heffernan, rider of Fort Sam Houston (GB), trained by Mr. A.P. O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Fort Sam Houston (GB) was found to be post race normal.

241B Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden & F.M. Berry, rider of Amiens Street, trained by Mr. E.J. O’Grady, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was slowly away through greenness and became detached very quickly.

241C Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Handicap & P.J. Smullen, rider of Be My Storm, trained by Mr. D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled on today’s ground and weakened before the straight.

241D Brandon Hotel Handicap & The Stewards received a report from R. Dawson, rider of Jumbo Steps, that he was in the process of retrieving his whip from a stalls handler as the stalls opened and was dislodged when leaving the stalls.

241E Listowel Races Supporters Club Lartigue Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards fined Mr. Gordon Elliot, trainer, €65 for failing to fit a tongue tie to his charge Bondage prior to entering the parade ring for this race. 

241G C & F Tooling Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards fined Mr. Philip Fenton, trainer, €130 for failing to present a passport in respect of On My Own to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer as required by the Instructions and Notices which pertain to Identification and Vaccination checks.

Listowel Meeting, 14th September 2011

The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: S. Foley replaced C. O’Donoghue (see enquiry) on World Ruler (GB), trained by Mr. David Marnane (second race).

The Stewards fined the following trainer €400 in each case in respect of his non-runners: Mr. Eoin Doyle for Safari Sunup and Without The Bop (late withdrawals – transport difficulties).

242B Exchange Inn Ballybunion & Kevin Brodericks Bar Listowel Handicap & The Stewards enquired into the circumstances surrounding the late arrival of C.P. C.O.’Donoghue, the declared rider of World Ruler (GB), necessitating a change of rider.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he was delayed in traffic.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation offered, and having taken C.O’Donoghue’s recent record in this regard into account, they therefore fined him €200 in accordance with Rule 196. 

242E Guinness Kerry National Handicap Steeplechase & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Minella Boys, trained by Mr. Charlie Longsdon (in GB), was found to be lame post race having pulled a right hind shoe.

Mr.  C.A. McBratney, trainer of Ballyholland, reported to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race. This was confirmed to the Stewards by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.

242G M.S.D. Animal Health Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into possible interference after the final hurdle involving the winner Code Of The West, ridden by A.P. McCoy, and Littletown Lass, ridden by A.D. Leigh, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that, while interference had occurred, they were not satisfied that the winner had improved his finishing position as a result. The Stewards therefore made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. However, they were of the opinion that A.P. McCoy had ridden carelessly (Rule 214) and they therefore suspended him for two race days (28th and 30th September).

Listowel Meeting, 15th September 2011

The Stewards fined the following trainers €200 each in respect of their non-runners:  Mr. Edward Lynam for Fred Fenster (declared in error); Mr. Bernard Anthony Heffernan for Give Me Shelter (change in going) and Mr. A.J. Martin for Corrick Bridge (late withdrawal - stone bruise).

The Stewards fined the following trainer €130 in respect of his non-runner: Mr. Lorcan Joseph Donnelly for Wellworthnaming (withdrawn by Order of the Stewards – passport irregularity).

243A Helena Sheahan Memorial Maiden & P.J. Smullen, rider of Sunset Stanza (GB), trained by Mr. D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not act on today’s ground. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Sunset Stanza (GB) was found to be post race normal.

243B Tote Jackpot Guarantee Median Auction Maiden & P.J. Smullen, rider of Lord Windark, trained by Mr. D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped slowly from stalls and never travelled. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Lord Windark was found to be post race normal.

P. Shanahan, rider of Lady Of Russia, trained by Ms Joanna Morgan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly.

243C T.P. Walsh Memorial Handicap & The Stewards enquired into an incident soon after leaving the stalls involving Independent Girl, ridden by D.J. Benson, placed second, Measured Approval, ridden by D.M. Grant, placed third, Oh What A Kitten (USA), ridden by L.F. Roche, and Cat Fire, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, both unplaced, after it appeared that the latter had to check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned in the presence of Mr. Edward P. Harty, who accompanied D.J. Benson in the Steward’s Room.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were unable to apportion blame to any rider and therefore took no further action.
Mr. Stephen McDonogh, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.

243D F.B.D. Insurance Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. Michael Hourigan, trainer of the winner Run With The Wind, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to the horse’s previous run at Killarney.
Mr. Hourigan reported that his charge was having his first run at Killarney after a break and that his horses were out of form at that time. He added that the horses now appear to be running better.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered. 

C.P. Hoban, rider of El Romo, trained by Mr. C. Roche, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung left throughout.

243G Devon Inn Hotel Handicap Hurdle & P. Carberry, rider of Martin Scruff, trained by Mr. Gordon Elliott, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never handled today’s ground and choked in running. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Martin Scruff was found to be blowing hard post race.

Listowel Meeting, 16th September 2011

The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: W.M. Lordan rode Florry Knox (reserve), trained by Mr. Patrick J. Flynn (first race).

244A Listowel Printing Works Maiden & G.F. Carroll, rider of To The Sky, trained by Ms. Joanna Morgan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung in the straight.

244B John & Terry Moriarty Memorial Handicap & The Stewards interviewed M.A. Enright, rider of If Paradise (GB), placed fourth, concerning his use of the whip in the straight.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. &
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that M.A. Enright was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (30th September and 2nd October).

244C L.M. Carey & Company Handicap & The Stewards interviewed D.M. Grant, rider of Marcus Attilius, placed third, concerning his use of the whip in the straight.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he was in front the whole way up the straight on very testing ground and gave his mount as much time as he could to respond.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.M. Grant was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken all the circumstances into account, the Stewards therefore severely cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Badger or Bust, trained by Mr. Stephen Michael Cox, was found to be lame post race.

244D Guinness Handicap & F.M. Berry, rider of Gentleman Duke, trained by Mr. A.L.T. Moore, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was slowly away and jumped awkwardly.

244F South West Bins Novice Hurdle & J.L. Cullen, rider of Scene Of The Crash, trained by Mr. M.P. Sunderland, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Scene Of The Crash was found to be clinically abnormal post race.

244G John J. Galvin Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed M.J. Ferris, rider of Man Turk Lady, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip in the straight.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he had continued to use the whip when out of contention in an effort to finish as close as possible.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that M.J. Ferris was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and unnecessarily when out of contention and when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. The Stewards therefore suspended him for seven race days.
Mr. Hugh F. Williams, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.

Fairyhouse Meeting, 18th September 2011

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:  P. Shanahan rode Carriga Rocks (reserve), trained by Mr. D. Broad (first race) and Banner Road (reserve), trained by Mr. Edward Lynam (second race); Samantha Bell replaced J.P. Bargary (see enquiry) on Strut In Style, trained by Mr. W. McCreery (sixth race) and R. Coakley rode Spring Crocus (reserve), trained by Ms. Joanna Morgan (sixth race).

246A Admission Only €5 Maiden & The Stewards interviewed Mr. V. Clifford, trainer of Malicious Intent, concerning the failure of this horse to load today. The Stewards noted that this horse had previously refused to load at Dundalk on 12th July 2011 and that Mr. Clifford had been informed that a repeat performance would mean the horse could be liable for suspension.
Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned, who stated that he had sent the horse away to be schooled through stalls but evidently this had not improved the animal’s behaviour.  Having considered the evidence, the Stewards suspended the horse for 60 days from races started from stalls. The Stewards also informed the trainer that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.

The Stewards informed Ms. Joanna Morgan, trainer of Lady Of Russia, that her charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.

246B Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden & C. O’Donoghue, rider of Cabin, trained by Mr. A.P O‘Brien , reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung left in the straight.

W.M. Lordan, rider of Eternal Bounty, trained by Mr. David Wachman, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was running green when she ran short of room in the straight.

K.J. Manning, rider of Livia Galilei, trained by Mr. J.S. Bolger, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount suffered interference in the straight.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Freedom Reigns, trained by Mr. Kevin Prendergast, was struck into in running, was showing signs of being in season but was otherwise found to be post race normal.

246C New Tote Sports Lounge Nursery Handicap & P.J. Smullen, rider of Haseen, trained by Mr. D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well, but weakened quickly in the closing stages.

246D Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sale Stakes & P.J. Smullen, rider of Gatepost, trained by Mr. Mick Channon (in GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well but ran flat in the latter stages. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Gatepost was found to be post race normal.

246F Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap & The Stewards received a request from Mr. W. McCreery, trainer of Strut In Style, to substitute the nominated rider J.P. Bargary, with Samantha Bell, due to the fact that J.P. Bargary was unable to do the weight today.
Evidence was heard from J.P. Bargary and from the trainer concerned. 
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the request.

Mr. Niall Moran, trainer of The Drunken Dr, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge ran flat in this race.

246G Fairyhouse Family Day Race & The Stewards requested a report from Ms. Bernie Quinn, representing Mr. A. Oliver, trainer of the winner Jazz Girl, regarding the apparent improvement in form of their charge compared with the horse’s previous run at Roscommon where she finished 12th of 14 and was beaten 23 lengths.
Ms. Quinn reported that this filly did not act on the heavy ground at Roscommon last time and said that the better ground today was the sole reason for the horse’s return to form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanation offered.
