Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned and from his assistant Mr David Black, who saddled the horse. Evidence was also heard from Mr. Ion Hamilton, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales.

Rogers, trainer of the winner Cheval Rouge, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s previous run at Naas on 20th July where she finished 13 lengths last of 12 runners behind the winner Joe Eile.
Mr. Rogers reported that today’s heavy ground was a major factor in the improved run and also confirmed that the filly had won as a two-year-old and a three-year-old when there was an ease in the ground
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
J.A. Heffernan, rider of Notgonnagiveup, trained by Mr. Richard J. Walker, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount weakened quickly after the turn into the straight. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Notgonnagiveup was found to be post race normal.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. Duff was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his good recent record in this regard into account, the Stewards severely cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.
The Stewards received a request from Mr. J.A. Nash, trainer of Tsar Paul, to run his charge without a tongue tie in this race.
Mr. Nash stated that his horse had become fractious in the preliminaries and that he was unable to fit the horse with a tongue tie.

236A House Of Frazer European Breeders Fund Maiden & Mr. Lee Smyth, trainer of Hexagonal, reported to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer that his charge was found to be lame immediately after this race. McDonogh, Le Rouge Alex, ridden by C.P. Hoban, placed second, and Taking Chances, ridden by L.F. Roche, unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the winner, by causing interference, had improved her placing in relation to Le Rouge Alex and they therefore ordered that the placing’s be reversed. The amended result should now read: First: Le Rouge Alex and Second: Sleepytimegirl (GB).
The Stewards were also of the opinion that D.P. McDonogh had ridden carelessly and they therefore suspended him for one race day (23rd September).
Mr. P.D. Deegan, trainer of Le Rouge Alex also attended this enquiry.
The Stewards enquired into an incident after the road crossing in the area of the entrance to the straight involving Ice Ice Baby (GB), ridden by S. Foley, placed fourth, Heir Of Caution, ridden by K.J. Manning, and Perhaps Love, ridden by S.H. James, both unplaced, after it appeared that the latter received a check.

237C Goffs National Stakes & J. Fortune, rider of Talwar, trained by Mr. Jeremy Noseda (in GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that he was unhappy with the horses’ action during the race. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Talwar was found to be post race normal.

237E Curragh Amateur Derby (Q.R) Handicap & The Stewards received a request from Mr. Damien Joseph English, trainer of Cash Or Casualty, to allow his rider Mr. P.J. Casey to carry 5 lbs overweight on his charge.
Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned.
In his evidence Mr. English explained how his horse was number 17 in the ballot and he thought that the animal was unlikely to get a run. He said that at 10am on Friday, when he realised that the horse was getting a run, he set about retaining. He explained that he contacted many riders, but all either had a ride already in the race or were unable to do the low weight (10st 4lb). Eventually he contacted Mr. P.J. Casey who told him that he would have to lose some weight but thought he would be able to ride at two or three pounds overweight. Given this information, Mr. English declared Mr. P.J. Casey under the impression he would have to carry no more than three pounds overweight. Once informed of the overweight situation today, Mr. English again tried to contact other riders but could not contact anyone who would be available at short notice.
In hid evidence Mr. Casey informed the Stewards that he had claimed off 10st 4lbs in the past, but not for some time. He said he set about losing the weight required, believing he may get down to carrying three pounds over or less, and he informed the trainer that this was the situation. However, he failed to lose the required weight in the meantime, but did manage to lose approximately four pounds since yesterday, which resulted in him requiring Stewards Permission to carry five pounds overweight.
Having considered the circumstances, the Stewards were satisfied that exceptional circumstances prevailed - it was the only Qualified Riders Flat Race on the card today with a maximum field of runners and the horse had to carry bottom weight in the race. In addition, the Stewards considered that no other Qualified Riders were present at the track available to ride in such a short timeframe. The Stewards therefore granted permission for Mr. P.J. Casey to carry five pounds overweight on Cash Or Casualty in this race as provided for under Rule 198 (vii).
However, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. P.J. Casey was in breach of Rule 195 (i), in that he was unable to weigh out at the correct weight after any allowances had been claimed, and they therefore they fined him €250.
237F www.thetote.com Handicap & The Stewards fined Mr. Liam McAteer, trainer €200 for the late withdrawal of his charge Yellow Dandy from this race. (1st offence this calendar year).

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Bible Belt was found to be post race normal.
238G Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from Ms. M. Dowdall Blake, trainer of the winner Good Time Sue, regarding the apparent improvement in form of her charge compared with the horse’s previous run at the Curragh where she finished 14th of 15 and was beaten 22 lengths.
Ms. Dowdall Blake reported that today’s softer ground conditions made a big difference to her charge, while she also settled well today. She added that this filly is in foal and was having her final run today.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanations offered.
The Stewards interviewed S.M. Gorey, rider of the winner Good Time Sue, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that S.M. Gorey had used his whip with excessive frequency and without giving his mount sufficient time to respond inside the final furlong. Having taken his record into account, the Stewards severely cautioned him as to his responsibilities in this regard for the future.
The Stewards enquired into an incident inside the final two furlongs involving Ted Dolly, ridden by P. Shanahan, placed second, Enchanted Evening, ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed third, and Asheerah (GB), ridden by D.P. McDonogh, unplaced, after it appeared interference had taken place.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards deemed the interference to be accidental in nature and took no further action.

239D Low Low European Breeders Fund Mares Handicap & The Stewards interviewed C.D. Maxwell, rider of Ocean Bright (USA), unplaced, concerning his use of the whip.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that, in hindsight, he had been excessive with the whip.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that C.D. Maxwell was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he used his whip unnecessarily when out of contention. Having taken his good record into account, the Stewards therefore severely cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.
D.N. Russell, rider of Adropaupep, trained by Mr. C. Byrnes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly right and was therefore pulled up. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Adropaupep was found to be post race normal.
Mr. Paul Magnier, trainer of Garutomark, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge did not act on today’s ground.
239E Cheestrings Beginners Steeplechase & P.W. Flood, rider of Last Time D’albain (FR), trained by Mr. Liam P. Cusack, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was dropped in, met with interference by fallers in the back straight and stayed on in the latter stages.
