037B Lisronagh Maiden Hurdle & Mr. Patrick Mooney, trainer of Wooly Tom, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Friday 18th March that his charge was found to have flipped his palate following a veterinary examination post race.

40B Tote Pick Six Rollover Maiden Hurdle & Mr. Michael Fitzsimons, trainer of Lads Night Out, reported to a Turf Club Official that his charge scoped badly post race.
Down Royal Meeting, 17th March 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: the following riders replaced E.J. O’Connell (injured): K.M. Donoghue rode Ad Man (FR), trained by Mr. Barry Potts (third race); D.J. Condon rode Selection Box, trained by Mr. C.A. McBratney (fourth race) and S.J. Hassett rode Knocklayde Euro, trained by Mr. J.J. Lambe (fifth race); C.V. Ring rode Akadyr (reserve), trained by Mr. Eoin Doyle (second race) and Mr. J.A. Jenkins replaced Mr. C. Cully (injured) on Enya Rose, trained by Mr. James H. Black (seventh race).
041A Daily Mirror Maiden Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Luso’s Girl, trained by Mr. T.J. Canavan, was found to be post race normal.
041B Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. Sean Thomas Doyle, trainer of the winner Get In There, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his horse compared to her last run where the mare finished eighth of 14 runners at Thurles and was beaten 30 lengths.
Mr. Doyle reported that he felt the Thurles race had come too quick for this mare and that she needs longer breaks between her runs.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanation offered.
Mr. Paul Stafford, trainer of Lisagore Lady, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to be in season post race.
041D Daily Mirror Steeplechase & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. Patrick Donovan, representing Mr. D.J. Barry, trainer of Inoma James, regarding the apparent improvement in form of this horse today after he finished third and was beaten four and a half lengths compared to his previous runs.
Mr. Donovan reported that the horse has been worked on by a chiropractor since his last run and he feels this has improved his jumping markedly. Mr. Donovan also felt that the horse appreciated today’s very testing going.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanations offered.
P.D. Kennedy, rider of Vic Venturi, trained by Mr. D.T. Hughes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not act on today’s ground.
041F Daily Mirror Hunters Steeplechase & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Family Oficial, trained by Mrs Mary Twohig, coughed during the examination, but was otherwise found to be post race normal.
Wexford Meeting, 17th March 2011
042A New Ross Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards attempted to enquire into the running and riding of City Lane, ridden by D.E. Splaine, and trained by Mr. John Joseph Murphy, but were unable to do so as Mr. Murphy was not present, nor had he nominated an authorised representative to act on his behalf as is required under Rule 147 (v).
Iin view of this, the Stewards referred the matter to the Referrals Committee.
The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer which stated that City Lane was found to be post race normal.
042B(i) Currracloe Maiden Hurdle (Division One) & M.P. Walsh, rider of Fever Pitch, trained by Mr. A.L.T. Moore, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled particularly well throughout this race, but was staying on well until he made a mistake at the last hurdle.
Mrs Mary C. O’Connor, trainer of Britway Lady, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her charge scoped badly post race.
042C Michael O’Murchadha Memorial Novice Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards enquired from Mr. Muredach Kelly, trainer of the winner King’s Light, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his horse compared to the animal’s previous run at Thurles on February 24th where he finished last of 18 runners and was beaten a total of 97 lengths.
Mr. Kelly reported that the application of a tongue tie for the first time under his care and a drop to a weaker race may, in his opinion, have brought about today’s improved performance from his charge
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanation offered.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Arquidos, trained by Mr. Eoin Doyle, was found to be post race normal.
042D Richard Browne & Sons Ltd. Hurdle & A.P. Cawley, rider of Cass Bligh, trained by Mr. Adrian Murray, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that today’s race may have come too soon after the horse’s previous run. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Cass Bligh was found to be post race normal.
Gowran Park Meeting, 19th March 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of rider at this meeting: the following rider replaced S.W. Jackson (Stewards permission): T.P. Treacy rode Dushy Springs, trained by Mr. P.J. Rothwell (first race) and Thom Thom, trained by Mr. Lorcan Joseph Donnelly (fifth race).
043B Goresbridge Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into possible interference after the final hurdle involving Fourth Class, ridden by A.E. Lynch, placed third, and Miracle House, ridden by B.M. Cash, placed fourth.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that no alteration to the Judge’s placings was necessary. They did, however, advise A.E. Lynch to ride with more care in future.
Andrew J. McNamara, rider of Sparkling Tara (GB), trained by Mr. John Joseph Hanlon, reported to a Turf Club Official that his mount made a respiratory noise in running.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Rushteens, trained by Mr. Martin Brassil, was found to be lame post race.
The Stewards fined Mr. V.T. Keane, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Princess Blade in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provision of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
043C www.gowranpark.ie Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards received a request from Mr. P.J. Rothwell, trainer, to withdraw his horse Jak Dream (GB) from this race due to the drying ground conditions.
In his request Mr. Rothwell stated that his horse has recovered from leg trouble and has raced on softer conditions than today. He walked part of the racetrack today and considered the going to be yielding and subsequently spoke with both the Turf Club Clerk of the Course and some of the riders that rode in the first race and all felt that the ground was drying.
Having considered the circumstances, the Stewards allowed the withdrawal of Jak Dream (GB) without fine or penalty.
B.J. Cooper, rider of The Shepherd King, trained by Mr. Thomas Cooper, reported to a Turf Club Official that his mount sustained a pelvic injury in running. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that The Shepherd King was found to be lame on his right hind post race.
I.J. McCarthy, rider of Chestnut Charlie, trained by Mr. Jason Cairns, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost his action after the third last hurdle.
043E Bagenalstown Beginners Steeplechase & The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Georgie (GB), ridden by J.R. Barry, and trained by Mr. M.O. Cullinane.
Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned.
In his evidence Mr. Cullinane stated that this gelding was having his first run since last October and was making his first appearance in a steeplechase. He added that his yard had been under a cloud all winter and he had not trained any winners under Rules or in Point to Points during this period. As a result of this, he instructed the rider to do his best and he was hopeful that his horse would finish. He also stated by stating that this gelding can be inconsistent in his performances and races in snatches. He concluded by stating that he did not apply any headgear to his charge today as it was his first run over fences.
In his evidence J.R. Barry stated that he was made aware by the trainer that his horses were generally under a cloud and was advised to give his mount a chance early on and to do his best. He felt in running that his mount jumped well in mid division before being switched to the outside, but tired in the tacky ground from the third last fence. He added that he held his mount together in the latter stages as he was conscious of the health problems that had been experienced in the trainers’ yard.
The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer, which stated that Georgie (GB) was found to be post race normal.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. Cullinane had used the racecourse as a training ground and consequently fined him €1,000 and also suspended Georgie (GB) for 42 days. Furthermore, the Stewards were of the opinion that J.R. Barry had made insufficient effort and therefore suspended him for seven race days and also ordered that he forfeit his riding fee.
Mr. W.J. Burke, trainer of Novedevichy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge made a respiratory noise in running. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Novedevichy was found to be coughing post race.
043F Paulstown Handicap Steeplechase & D.G. Hogan, rider of Killary Bay, trained by Mr. C.F. Swan, reported to a Turf Club Official that his mount was pulled up having jumped deliberately in the back straight.
043G Kilkenny (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat Race & Mr. J.T. McNamara, rider of Cairdin, trained by Ms. Margaret Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost its action and was pulled up. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Cairdin was found to be post race normal. The trainer subsequently confirmed the rider’s report to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 21st March.
Cork Meeting, 20th March 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: P. Townend replaced K.M. Donoghue (injured) on Temlett, trained by Mr. J.D. Moore (second race); J.R. Barry replaced D.E. Splaine (injured) on Some Touch, trained by Mr. Trevor Horgan (fifth race); Andrew J. McNamara replaced D.N. Russell (unwell) on Mossbank, trained by Mr. Michael Hourigan (fifth race) and P. Townend replaced R.C. Colgan (injured) on Midnight Present, trained by Mr. Edward Cawley (sixth race).
044A Student Raceday March 31st Maiden Hurdle & E.F. Power, rider of Fantastic Strike, trained by Mr. John J. Walsh, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was almost brought down at the first hurdle, made a mistake at the next hurdle and that he got little response from the horse after the third last hurdle.
A.P. Heskin, rider of Scottish Reel, trained by Mr. J.P. Broderick, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount suffered interference at the first hurdle and that he found himself further back in the field than he would have liked. He also said that his mount began to weaken approaching the final hurdle and may appreciate better ground.
044B 3 Day Easter Festival Handicap Hurdle & P. Carberry, rider of Anshan Dreams (GB), trained by Mr. Adrian Maguire, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was settled in the rear when he encountered serious interference at the first hurdle resulting in the horse becoming detached at the back of the field. He also said he thought he may be able to creep back into the race but his mount never travelled after that interference.
044H Easter Festival Handicap Steeplechase & Andrew J. McNamara, rider of Mossbank, trained by Mr. Michael Hourigan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount felt stiff post race.
044F Follow Us On Twitter Novice Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. Kieran Purcell, trainer of the winner Smokey Joe Joe, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his horse particularly in comparison to the animal’s previous run at Thurles on 24th February where he was pulled up.
Mr Purcell reported that the animal was ridden by P.W. Flood that day and became very wound up in the preliminaries. He said the horse never travelled from flag fall and was eventually pulled up.
Having considered the report, the Stewards accepted the explanation offered.
The Stewards interviewed K. Whelan, rider of Last Time D’albain (FR), placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that K. Whelan had used his whip with excessive frequency, and having taken his excellent recent record in this regard into account, they advised him concerning his use of the whip in future.
S.J. Gray, rider of A Better Excuse, trained by Mr. Eugene M. O’Sullivan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly throughout.
044G Rockview (Q.R) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards interviewed Mr. M.P. Fogarty, rider of the winner Gullinbursti, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. Fogarty had used his whip with excessive frequency,and having taken his recent record in this regard into account, they suspended him for two race days (3rd and 7th April)..
Mr. Michael J. O’Connor, trainer of Definite Design, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 21st March that his charge scoped badly post race.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Do Brazil, trained by Mr. E.J. O’Grady, was found to be post race normal. The trainer subsequently reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Tuesday 22nd March that his charge was found to have no abnormalities following a veterinary examination at his premisese.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Dunbrovic, trained by Mr. W.P. Mullins, was found to be post race normal.
Curragh Meeting, 20th March 2011
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: N.G. McCullagh replaced R. Dawson (injured) on Bramante (GB), trained by Mr. Edward Lynam (second race).
The Stewards fined the following trainer €200 in respect of his non-runner: Mr. J.S. Bolger for Gleadhradh (off feed).
045A Tally Ho Stud European Breeders Fund Maiden & The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving the winner Tough As Nails, ridden by G.F. Carroll, and Whip Rule, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that Tough As Nails had interfered with Whip Rule and in so doing had improved his placing. The Stewards therefore reversed the Judge’s placings.
The amended result should now read:- First: Whip Rule and Second: Tough As Nails.
Furthermore, the Stewards advised G.F. Carroll to make more of an effort to keep straight course in future.
P. Hanagan, rider of Lost City, trained by Mr. R.A. Fahey (in GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran green and hung right. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Lost City was found to be post race normal.
045B Big Bad Bob Maiden & B.A. Curtis, rider of Edenshaw, trained by Mr. David J. Geary, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung in the final furlong.
045E www.thetote.com Irish Lincolnshire & The Stewards interviewed C.D. Hayes, rider of Rory Anna, placed fourth, concerning his use of the whip from approximately three furlongs out.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that this filly was inclined to be lazy and was responding well to the whip. With regard to using the whip in the forehand down the shoulder, he said he did this as a remedial action as the filly was lugging in. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that C.D. Hayes had used his whip improperly and with excessive force and frequency. Having taken his record in this regard into account, they therefore suspended him for three race days (3rd, 5th and 8th April).
The Stewards attempted to enquire into the running and riding of Osirixamix, trained by Mr. A.J. Martin, but as Mr. Martin was not in attendance and had not lodged notification of an authorised representative for this meeting as set out in Rule 147(v), the Stewards decided to refer the matter to the Referrals Committee of the Turf Club.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Osirixamix, trained by Mr. A.J. Martin, was found to be post race normal. Subsequently the Racecourse Veterinary Officer reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Tuesday 22nd March that the horse was found to have low grade blood and mucus following an endoscopic examination post race.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Our Joe Mac, trained by Mr. R.A. Fahey (in GB), was found to be post race normal.
045G Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden & The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the last furlong and a half involving the winner Sapphire, ridden by P.J. Smullen, and Quest For Peace, ridden by J.P. O’Brien, placed third.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the interference caused was accidental in nature and did not affect the eventual result. The Stewards therefore made no alteration to the Judge’s placings.
Mr. D.K. Weld and Mr. John C. McConnell (representing J.P. O’Brien), also attended this enquiry.
C.M. Walsh, rider of General Bunching (USA), trained by Mr. J.S. Bolger, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that he felt weak as he had been wasting in an effort to carry the correct weight today.
