Security Team Official – Part Time Panel

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) is the Racing Regulatory Body for horseracing in Ireland. Under the Horse Racing Ireland Act 2016, the IHRB is responsible for the provision of on-course integrity services.
The IHRB is now seeking to recruit a Security Team Official to join its part-time panel of security officials. The person appointed will report to the Head of Security and Investigations.
ROLE PURPOSE
The role of the Security Team is to provide security at Stable yards, Jockey Rooms and Weigh Rooms at all racecourses. The Security Team works closely with other raceday officials and other stakeholders to ensure that integrity is delivered to the highest standard.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Ensuring access to stableyards, jockey rooms and weigh rooms on racecourses is restricted to accredited individuals
- Processing Horse Passports for runners on racedays in association with the IHRB veterinary team
- Liaising with the Assistant Clerk of the Scales in respect of raceday paperwork relevant to the Security Team
- Completing IHRB paperwork associated with access to racecourse stableyards
- Providing guidance and assistance, where appropriate, to licensed persons in the racecourse stableyards
- Accompanying horses from the Parade Ring post-race to the Veterinary Box for dope testing and/or examination
- Monitoring of Closed Circuit Television in racecourse stableyards
- Reporting of any potential breaches of the Rules of Racing to the Head of Security and Investigations or his Deputy
- Any other duties as required
PERSON
You will be a strong team player with excellent inter-personal skills, and you will demonstrate high levels of integrity and trust in the carrying out of your duties.
EXPERIENCE
Ideally, candidates will have previous relevant experience working in security together with experience of working with racehorses/racing industry. Some knowledge or experience of carrying out investigations would be an asset for the role as would some knowledge of the Rules of Racing and Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Rules insofar as they are applicable to your role.
