275C Service Matters H'cap H'dle

R.A. Doyle, rider of Banjo trained by Denis W. Cullen, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount didn't handle the ground and jumped right.

275D Roscommon On-Course Vets M'dn H'dle

The Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of The Big Galloper, trained by C.Byrnes, placed 1st, as compared with its recent form. Evidence was heard from Mr. A. Shaw, Handicapper, and the trainer concerned. Mr. Shaw stated that this horse had six previous hurdle runs, he had bits of form in the past in a bumper and in some of his hurdle runs but he felt his best piece of form until today was his chase run. He had returned after a six month break at Listowel last time where he finished approximately 30 lengths behind Randalls Ur Poet. Today he reopposed that horse and finished 18 lengths in front of him, which in his opinion was a more than normal improvement from his last run.
Mr. Byrnes stated that he agreed with the handicapper regarding the horse's best run being his chase run. He stated that the horse had been off for the summer and his come back run was at Listowel where the rider that day had thought he had run well. He felt the ground was very different today, his charge was receiving allowances from the winners in the race and he was also using a 5lb claiming rider today.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the trainer's explanation.

B. Hayes, rider of Time For An Oscar trained by Paul Stafford, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was reluctant to jump off.

275F Irish Stallion Farms EBF H'cap S'chase

H. Morgan, rider of Cable (GB) trained by S.J.Mahon, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stopped quickly at the turn-in.
