Point to Point Raceday Officials (Part Time)
06 October 2022The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) is the Regulatory Body for horseracing in Ireland. The IHRB is responsible for the integrity and reputation of Irish horseracing including Point to Points.
The IHRB is now seeking to recruit for a panel of part-time Point-To-Point Officials who will form part of a team of Point to Point Raceday Officials, present at every Point to Point meeting to oversee all regulatory matters. These roles will also involve working closely with the Acting Stewards and IHRB Representative appointed to each meeting.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Inspecting the course in advance of racing on raceday to ensure conformity with INHS Point to Point Regulations
- Liaising with and briefing Hunt Officials on Standard Operating Procedures to be carried out at the meeting
- Briefing Riders in advance of racing on the INHS Point to Point Regulations
- Observing races and dealing with potential breaches of any INHS Point to Point Regulation
- Presentation of cases before the Acting Stewards at the meeting
- Advising the Acting Stewards on the interpretation of any INHS Point to Point Regulation
- Preparation and publication of enquiry reports
- Completing all necessary regulatory documentation during and after each meeting
Experience/Qualifications:
- Have an acceptable knowledge of horseracing and the INHS Point to Point Regulations
- Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations
- Be a top-class race reader and have the ability to analyse situations quickly in a pressurised environment
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
- Hold a full driving license
- Be a team player but with the ability to also work independently on your own initiative
- Expect to work weekends throughout Ireland with a degree of flexibility to meet deadlines and the demands of the Point to Point fixture list
