Philip J. Rothwell Appeal
Naas, 7th January, 2007.

The Appeals Body, Division Two, Mr. P.J.A. O’Connor (in the Chair), Mrs. T.K. Cooper and Mrs. J.O. Onions, met at the Stand House Hotel, The Curragh, Co. Kildare, on Tuesday, 23rd January, 2007, to consider an appeal lodged by Philip J. Rothwell, Trainer, against the decision of the Acting Stewards at Naas on 7th January, 2007, when following the running of the www.financebusiness.ie Maiden Hurdle the Stewards decided that “Got The Urge”, trained by Mr. Rothwell, had been uncompetitive and therefore suspended the animal from running for sixty days.  The Appeals Body heard evidence from the Philip J. Rothwell, Trainer, Philippe Lafarge, Steward Secretary, J.P. Kavanagh, Chief Executive of the Irish Racehorse Trainers Association, and a film of the race was also viewed.

Having considered the evidence, the Appeals Body allowed the Appeal.

Mr. Rothwell was represented by Mr. A.R. Coonan, Coonan Cawley Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare, and the case was presented to the Committee by Mr. Brian Price, Wilkinson and Price Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.
