252E www.navanracecourse.ie H'capThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Bridgehead, trained by Noel Meade, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
The Stewards requested a report from Michael Mulvany, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Comfort Line, placed first, as compared with its recent run in Galway on 28th of July where it was 13th of 17 runners. Michael Mulvany reported that his charge was drawn on the wide outside and could not get in after the break. He further added that having not gotten a good position from the break the race went against Comfort Line and he ran no race as a consequence. Having considered the explanation the Stewards noted the content of the report.
J.M. Sheridan, rider of Ransom (GB) trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly left in the final two hundred yards and the whip was used for corrective purposes.
D. McMonagle, rider of Dreal Deal, trained by Ronan M.P. McNally, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was a touch awkward after breaking from stalls and stumbled as a result.
252F Kilberry H'capThe Stewards requested a report from J.P. Murtagh, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Our Scholar, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Denis Linehan, Authorised representative for J.P. Murtagh, reported that their change had been gelded since his last run, wore first time cheek pieces and raced over a longer distance today, these being contributing factors for the improved performance. Having considered the explanation the Stewards noted the content of the report.
252G1 Racing Next At Navan On Sept 3rd H'capThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Walnut Beach, trained by Patrick J.Flynn, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
C.G. O'Dwyer, rider of Sawbuck trained by Conor O'Dwyer, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran off the bend turning into the back straight.
G.M. Ryan, rider of Tenth Amendment trained by Keith Henry Clarke, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left in the straight.
The Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of Imperial Choice, trained by C.Byrnes, placed first, compared with its recent form. Evidence was heard from Mr. G. O'Gorman, IHRB Senior Rules of Racing Handicapper. He summarised the horses three most recent runs. He added that the horse had dropped from a rating of sixty one to fifty four during this time. In his opinion there was a significant improvement in form. Mr O'Gorman also referenced the betting trends on this animal but C. Byrnes disagreed with some of the facts put forward on this subject. Evidence was also heard from the trainer concerned who stated that his charge ran at Killarney on the 13th July where she broke badly but did not run as bad as her finishing position. He added that she previously ran at Killarney on the 17th May where she did not handle the soft underfoot conditions. Six days previously she made her seasonal appearance at Gowran Park. In his opinion, the filly is quirky and hard to train. She handles good ground and needs to run over a trip and the way the race unfolded suited her with today's galloping track being to her liking. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanations given.
252G2 Racing Next At Navan On Sept 3rd H'capThe Stewards interviewed A.C. Persse, rider of Rips Dream, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the whip Regulation. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that A.C. Persse was in breach of R10.3(g) and having considered his record, they suspended him for 1 raceday.
J.A. Heffernan, rider of Swelltime trained by W.J. O'Doherty, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung a little right in the straight.
