C.A. Landers, rider of Twoconduit, trained by John Patrick Ryan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount raced very free in the early part of this race and missed the third last hurdle.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident after the third last hurdle at an unrailed section of the course involving Aime Desjy (FR), ridden by D.E. Mullins, placed fourth, Hemlock (GB), ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe, placed third, and Striking (FR), ridden by S.F. O'Keeffe, unplaced, where it appeared that Hemlock (GB) was tight for room when meeting a course marker having made his challenge down the inner. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, D.J. O'Keeffe stated that he had followed Striking (FR) which had jumped to the right throughout and on landing over the third last hurdle the same happened again but he kept his own mount on the inner and got tight for room when Striking (FR) returned to his racing line. D.E. Mullins stated that his own mount maintained a straight line after the third last hurdle and Striking (FR) returned to his racing line having jumped to the right. S.F. O'Keeffe stated that he was leading the race at the third last hurdle when jumping to the right and he brought his mount back to the inside racing line which he had held throughout the race. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action.

Having considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards noted the content of the report.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed D. Moloney, rider of Four Country Roads, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, D. Moloney stated that his mount was responding well to the whip and he lost count in a good finish. He apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that D. Moloney was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended D. Moloney for four racedays.
