The Raceday Stewards interviewed Sam Ewing, rider of Smooth Player, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, Sam Ewing admitted that he had used his whip with his arm above shoulder height. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Sam Ewing was in breach of R10(3)(h) by using his whip with his arm above shoulder height. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended Sam Ewing for six racedays pursuant to the provision of R10(6)(a).
The Raceday Stewards received a report from Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Starter, Mr. J.R. Banahan, that Rachael Blackmore, rider of Mister Bo had disobeyed his instructions by anticipating the start which resulted in a false start being called. Evidence was heard from the starter and rider concerned. In his evidence, the starter detailed the procedure he had requested from the riders to walk in in a controlled manner but this was disobeyed and a false start was called. Rachael Blackmore stated that she was riding a difficult horse that had unseated her on the way to the start and furthermore had previously shown an attitude to jumping off. She admitted that while she was encouraging her mount forward by using her legs, she quickly used her hands to restrain him when she knew that the start was not being effected. She felt that she was possibly the cause for the false start and apologised for what had happened. Having viewed the recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action.
M.C. Grassick, trainer of Mollys Glory, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge lost a hind shoe during this race.
052B Adare Manor Opportunity H'cap H'dleB.W. Harvey, rider of Enchanted Magic, trained by C.A.McBratney, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled during this race and was pulled up.
The Raceday Stewards interviewed Caragh Monaghan , rider of Attitash, concerning her use of the whip in the latter stages of this race when out of contention. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In her evidence, Caragh Monaghan admitted to using her whip when out of contention and apologised for her actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Caragh Monaghan was in breach of R10(3)(b) by the unnecessary hitting of her mount after its chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone. Having taken her clean previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards cautioned Caragh Monaghan on this occasion.
052C Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice H'dleP. Townend, rider of Paul Marvel (FR), trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount sustained a very bad overreach during this race.
052D Webster Cup S'chaseM.J.M O'Sullivan, rider of Fire Attack, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung very badly left during this race.
052E Irish Stallion Farms EBF Nov. H'cap S'chAt the request of the Raceday Stewards, Rachael Blackmore, rider of Shantreusse, trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount travelled well but did not pick up in the latter stages.
At the request of the Raceday Stewards, A.P. Kelly, rider of Slip Of The Tongue, trained by Padraig Roche, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled into the race but got very tired in the closing stages.
At the request of the Raceday Stewards, S.W. Flanagan, rider of Yeah Man, trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not pick up in the latter stages of this race.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Yeah Man, trained by Gavin Cromwell, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
052F Kilberry H'cap S'chaseThe Raceday Stewards interviewed J.J. Slevin, rider of Misty Hollow, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, J.J. Slevin did not consider that he was in breach of R10(3)(h). Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that J.J. Slevin was in breach of R10(3)(h) by using his whip with his arm above shoulder height. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Raceday Stewards suspended J.J. Slevin for three racedays.
052G Racing March 29th (Pro-Am) INH Flat RaceAt the request of the Raceday Stewards, Mr N. Gault, rider of Augusta George, trained by W J Bryson, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly left all the way up the straight.
Mr F. Maguire, rider of Getaway George, trained by Sarah Dawson, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount pulled hard in the early part of this race and hung right throughout.
The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident over two furlongs from the finish involving Augusta George, ridden by Mr N. Gault, unplaced, and Did I Ask You That, ridden by Mr P.W. Mullins, placed fourth, where it appeared that Augusta George lay in on Did I Ask You That. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
