The Stewards interviewed Kevin A Murphy, rider of Mutadaawel, concerning his use of the whip in the straight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, Kevin A. Murphy stated that he got excited when he realised that he had a chance of riding his first winner and completely lost count on the number of times that he had used the whip. He apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Kevin A. Murphy was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency and R10(3)(i) by using his whip without allowing his mount at least three strides to respond. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended Kevin A. Murphy for ten racedays and referred him to R.A.C.E for one days tuition on the correct use of the whip.

052G Racing March 29th (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race

The Stewards interviewed Mr J.J. Codd, rider of Santonito (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, Mr J.J. Codd admitted that he had breached the whip guidelines when getting involved in a tight finish with two challengers. He apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr J.J. Codd was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended Mr J.J. Codd for one raceday.

Mr E. Mahon, rider of Cherry Avenue trained by John Neilan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran free during the early part of this race.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the latter stages of this race involving Don Chalant, ridden by Mr P.W. Mullins, placed second, and Santonito (FR), ridden by Mr J.J. Codd, placed first, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, Mr P.W. Mullins stated that he started his challenge in the middle of the track but got carried across to the rail which denied his mount to run in a straight line. Mr J.J. Codd stated that his mount had been intimidated by another challenger on his outside and while accepting that his mount had drifted inwards, he felt that there was always room for Don Chalant. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action.
