031A Navan Ford & Opel M'dn H'dle

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident between the second last and the last hurdle involving Angostura, ridden by J.W. Kennedy, Ascending, ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe, Gaucher (GB), ridden by P. Townend, and Karacole (FR), ridden by J.J. Slevin where it appeared Gaucher (GB) got tight for room on the inner. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. P. Townend stated that his mount ran too free, two horses came around him and the riders on the outside are keeping tight but he holds his ground and is able to quicken up. J.W. Kennedy stated that he jumped the second last three wide, held his line and got a bump when the incident happened. J.J. Slevin stated that he went down the inner, as the race develops his mare is not quick enough to hold her position and does not suffer any interference. D.J. O'Keeffe stated that he rode his line to the last hurdle. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found D.J. O'Keeffe in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden improperly(first offence), and having considered his record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for seven race days.

The Raceday Stewards wished to enquire into the running and riding of Barton Snow, ridden by Miss M.M. McElligott, and trained by William P Murphy. However as an Authorised Representative had not been appointed in accordance with the provisions of Rule 147 the Raceday Stewards referred the matter to the Referrals Committee in accordance with the provisions of Rule 14 (ii)(b). The Raceday Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Barton Snow was post race normal, samples were taken for analysis.

031B Apple's Jade (Mares) Novice H'dle

A representative of Mrs John Harrington, trainer of Ashdale Flyer, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her charge pulled a shoe and had suffered from an over reach.

031C William Hill Boyne H'dle

The Raceday Stewards interviewed J.W. Kennedy, rider of Beacon Edge, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his mount was responding but accepted he was in breach of the whip regulation. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found J.W. Kennedy in breach of Reg.10.3(g) and having taken his record into account suspended him for four race days.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Blazing Khal, trained by C.Byrnes, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be clinically abnormal post race.

031D Gibney's H'cap H'dle

C. Stone-Walsh, rider of Clear The Clouds, trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was badly hampered at the last.

S. Fitzgerald, rider of Stockdale, trained by Patrick Eugene Turley, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hit a spur.

P. Byrnes, rider of Aodhan May, trained by C.Byrnes, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount looked left and went left when he hit the front.

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident at the final hurdle involving Clear The Clouds, ridden by C. Stone-Walsh, and Aodhan May, ridden by P. Byrnes, where it appeared horses came close together. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into the late entry of Full Noise, trained by Miss Katy Brown, into the parade ring prior to this race. Evidence was heard from the trainer's Authorised Representative, Mr. G. Dunne, who stated that he was delayed due to the application of a tongue tie prior to the race. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule 32 by failing to parade in the ring a reasonable time before the signal to mount was given and having taken her record in this regard into consideration the Raceday Stewards cautioned the trainer on this occasion through her representative.

031F William Hill Extra Place Races Hcap S'ch

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident at the second last fence involving Old Soul (FR), ridden by C. Stone-Walsh, and Atacanter, ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe, where it appeared horses collided in mid air. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident at the second last fence involving Old Soul (FR), ridden by C. Stone-Walsh, and Atacanter, ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe, where it appeared horses collided in mid air. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Young Dev, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer's representative reported that the reapplication of sheepskin cheek pieces combined with a return to a track he runs well at may have resulted in the apparent improvement. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation offered.
