366D John Thomas McNamara Series (QR) Hcp Hdl

The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Feathered Gold, trained by Shane Patrick O'Brien, for failing to present the animal for identification in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (i).

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of My Boy Bob, ridden by Ms K.L. Derwin, and trained by A.J.Martin. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Ms K.L. Derwin, stated that she was instructed to get her mount settled, get him in his comfort zone, follow her own initiative from there and to do her best and ensure that she got home in tact. She reminded the Stewards that she had travelled to the trainers yard recently to familiarise herself with this animal as he can be very keen. During a review of the video recording of this race, Ms Derwin described her ride from the start and firstly advised that she was further back passing the stands having been pushed out by another horse. As the race progressed she added that her mount settled in a race run at a good gallop and moved up slowly before the home turn when being squeezed. She described her mount as making a mistake at the second last hurdle but picked up when pressure was applied and ran on to finish third. In her own opinion, she felt that any pressure applied before the home turn would not have been rewarded with a third placing. A.J.Martin, confirmed the riding instructions by adding that he wanted his charge to jump off about three quarters way back in the field. He added that he had also told the rider to keep a hold of her mount and to get him balanced. He described the rider as being very inexperienced and in his opinion she should have taken a closer position before the home turn. He advised the Stewards that his charge was having his first run in a handicap today. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that My Boy Bob was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted A.J. Martin's explanation. However, the Stewards were of the opinion that Ms K.L. Derwin was in breach of Rule 212A (ii) by riding her horse in such a way that her horse could not be seen to have been the subject of a genuine attempt to obtain from the horse timely, real and substantial efforts to achieve the best possible place. Having taken her clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended Ms K.L. Derwin for ten racedays. .

366G BetVictor Support Racing INH Flat Race

The Stewards interviewed Mr J.J. Codd, rider of Nonbinding, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, Mr J.J. Codd stated that he miscounted his use and thought in riding that he had complied with the Regulations. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr J.J. Codd was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned Mr J.J. Codd on this occasion.
