The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Ohio State (USA), trained by A.P.O'Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
D. O'Brien, rider of Ohio State (USA), trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran green during this race.
D.P. McDonogh, rider of Fairlie Roads trained by Edward P.Harty, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was checked soon after the junction on the track.
The Stewards enquired into an incident about three furlongs out involving Fairlie Roads, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, unplaced and Ohio State (USA), ridden by D. O'Brien, unplaced, where it appeared that Ohio State (USA) ducked left when the whip was applied. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that any interference was accidental in nature and took no further action.
A.J. Slattery, rider of Laurel Grove trained by J.A.Stack, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left in the last furlong.
105B Caragh Nurseries H'capThe Stewards informed Kieran P. Cotter, trainer that Dash D'or, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.
The Stewards informed J.F. Levins, trainer that Nigg Bay, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.
The Stewards informed M.C. Grassick, trainer that Cactus Tree, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.
The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Flojo, trained by J.G.Coogan, for failing to lodge the passport in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (i).
105D Irish National Stud EBF Blue Wind StksThe Stewards interviewed J.A. Heffernan, rider of Peach Tree, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that J.A. Heffernan was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned J.A. Heffernan.
The Stewards wished to enquire into a possible breach of R10(3) following a report from Ms Joan Taylor, IHRB Veterinary Officer that Tarnawa, ridden by C.D. Hayes, was found to be marked from the whip on a post race examination. C.D. Hayes accepted the report and the photographic evidence presented. Ms Taylor confirmed that the photographic evidence referred to Tarnawa. C.D. Hayes accepted that he had three previous offences under R10(3) since the new Whip Regulations came into effect. Having considered the Veterinary report and the riders acceptance of his disciplinary record in relation to R10(3), the Stewards in accordance with the provisions of R10(6) referred the matter to the Referrals Committee for consideration.
105F Naas Racecourse Business Club H'capS. Foley, rider of Klute trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount struggled from half way.
A.J. Farragher, rider of Sonaiyla trained by M.Halford, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount received interference twice during this race.
The Stewards enquired into an incident at the junction of the racecourse over three furlongs from the finish involving Woody Creek (GB), ridden by A.J. Slattery, placed first and Sonaiyla, ridden by A.J. Farragher, unplaced , where it appeared that Woody Creek (GB) made a manoeuvre and Sonaiyla checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. A.J. Slattery gave his evidence in the presence of Francis Slattery and A.J. Farragher gave his evidence in the presence of Michael Halford. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by A.J. Slattery riding carelessly, this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended A.J. Slattery for 1 raceday.
The Stewards enquired into an incident over two furlongs from the finish involving Ferretti (USA), ridden by D. O'Brien, placed fourth, Barend Boy (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, unplaced and Sonaiyla, ridden by A.J. Farragher, unplaced, where it appeared that Sonaiyla ran short of room and checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. A.J. Farragher gave his evidence in the presence of Michael Halford. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D. O'Brien had caused the incident by riding carelessly, this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended D. O'Brien for 2 racedays.
Mrs John Harrington, trainer of Klute, reported to the Stewards Secretaries on duty at Roscommon on 13th May that this horse was found to have an abscess on his foot when examined at home post race..
105G Royal Ascot Trials Day May 19th H'capR.P. Cleary, rider of Kasbah trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount had no luck in running.
