The Referrals Committee, Mr. G.A. Holmes (in the Chair), Mrs. J.O. Onions and Mr. P.J.A. O’Connor, met at the Stand House Hotel, The Curragh, Co. Kildare, on Wednesday, 7th June, 2006, to consider a referral from the Acting Stewards at Thurles on 21st April, 2006, when following the running of the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Steeplechase, the Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of the winner, “Markason”, trained by Mr. G. Cully and ridden by M.J. Ferris.

Evidence was heard from Mr. G. Cully, Trainer, Mr. S. Quinn, Steward Secretary, and Mr. A. Shaw, National Hunt Handicapper, and a film of the race was also viewed.  Having considered the evidence the Committee noted the explanation furnished by Mr. Cully.
