286A John Lynch Memorial M'dn H'dle

J.C. Gainford, rider of Ace Aussie trained by John Joseph Hanlon, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount did not travel on the ground.

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Ms. A. O'Keeffe, regarding the failure of R. Deegan, rider of Deep Pockets, placed sixth to weigh in after this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he did not observe his name on the electronic board when he returned to the weigh room even though he knew that he had finished sixth. Ms A. O'Keeffe, the Clerk of the Scales stated that the first six placed horses were recorded and R. Deegan had failed to present himself to weigh in. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards using their powers under Rule 230, disqualified Deep Pockets from sixth place. As a consequence, they amended the result to read as follows: First: Rumi (GB), Second: Rock On Pedro, Third: Boyzohboyz, Fourth: Laser Focus, Fifth: Ferrybridge. Furthermore, the Stewards were of the opinion that R. Deegan was in breach of Rule 227 and having considered his record in this regard, they suspended him for two racedays and ordered him to forfeit his riding fee.

R. Deegan, rider of Ella Rose trained by Eoin Christopher McCarthy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran green and was flat out throughout the race.

286C M.J. Carroll ARRO H'cap H'dle

S. O'Callaghan, rider of Son Of Hypnos trained by Kevin Michael Smith, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount suffered interference at the last.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference at the final hurdle involving Skippin Court, ridden by K.C. Sexton, placed first, Listentillitellyea, ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe, placed second, and Son Of Hypnos, ridden by S. O'Callaghan, placed sixth, where it appeared that Skippin Court moved right on the approach to the final hurdle with two horses on his outer and interference may have occurred . Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, S O'Callaghan stated that he got carried out to the right and was unable to check. D.J. O'Keeffe stated that he was on the outer of Skippin Court when that horse went right and carried his own mount wide causing a knock on effect of interference. K.C. Sexton stated that his mount was not the most genuine and had a good look before running down the last hurdle by going right but was corrected quickly. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.

In his evidence, Mr S. Kavanagh accepted that he had breached the whip guidelines and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr S. Cavanagh was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned Mr S. Cavanagh on this occasion.
