The Stewards received a request from Norman Lee, trainer of Johnnys Girl, for P. Kennedy to replace G.P. Brouder who was unavailable due to a Rider Administration error. The trainer stated that he was unable to secure a suitable rider for his charge. Having considered the request, the Stewards granted permission to Norman Lee under Rule 196(iv) for P. Kennedy to ride Johnnys Girl.

The Stewards interviewed T. Joseph Kelly, rider of Otzi, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. He accepted that he had used his while out of contention but thought in riding that his mount might pick up and close on the leaders. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that T. Joseph Kelly was in breach of R10(3)(b) by using his whip unnecessarily after his chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone. Having considered his clean previous record, the Stewards cautioned T. Joseph Kelly on this occasion.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference between the last two hurdles involving Mr Bercow, ridden by K.M. Donoghue, placed third, Elusive Exclusive, ridden by Mr P.A. King, placed fourth and More Overdraught (GB), ridden by G.B. Noonan, placed sixth, where it appeared that interference had taken place. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. G.B. Noonan stated that he received little contact. Mr P.A. King stated that he had received some contact but that it had no effect on his final placing. K.M. Donoghue stated that his mount had jumped left at the second last hurdle and he was returning back to his racing line when some contact occurred. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference about 150 yards from the finish involving Iridescent, ridden by K.J. Brouder, placed second and Elusive Exclusive, ridden by Mr P.A. King, placed fourth, where it appeared that Elusive Exclusive may have run short of room when racing close to the running rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr P.A. King stated that while a gap was there for him his mount was unable to take it and he did not receive any interference. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action.

047F Patrickswell H'cap S'chase

The Stewards interviewed G.B. Noonan, rider of Moscowsowhat, a faller at the second last fence and K.M. Donoghue, rider of Minellafordollars, pulled up on landing over the second last fence in relation to their reason for attempting to jump this fence when their respective mounts appeared to be very tired. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Both riders stated that they were satisfied that their mounts could jump the fence and were in contention for place prize money. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the riders had not breached any Rules on this occasion but reminded both riders to ride with more awareness in the future as the outcome for both horses at the second last fence did not make for good viewing.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Laid Back Luke, trained by Ms. Sheila Lavery, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race.
