Hayes, placed third, Desert Heather, ridden by D.L. Queally, placed second, and Fortunefavorsdbold, ridden by S.W. Queally stated that Fortunefavorsdbold jumped right across his own mount which was intimidated and ran left at this point before being straightened to make a challenge and was beaten by half a length. S.W. Flanagan stated that his mount, which was fitted with cheek pieces, went violently to the left when Japers Jack dropped away and he had left the bit down in her mouth. He added that he quickly switched his whip hand to straighten his mount. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings, did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action.
