373D Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hdle

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Largy Debut, trained by Henry de Bromhead, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

At the request of the Stewards, Rachael Blackmore, rider of Largy Debut, trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount hung right, did not pick up and stopped quickly before being pulled up.

The Stewards enquired into an incident after the first hurdle involving Largy Debut, ridden by Rachael Blackmore and Mighty Potter (FR), ridden by J.W. Kennedy, where it appeared that Mighty Potter (Fr) stumbled when crossed by Largy Debut. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, J.W. Kennedy stated that Largy Debut led his own mount over the first when stumbling on landing and going to the right before returning to his natural racing line. He explained that his own mount had jumped well but had followed Largy Debut to the right after jumping the hurdle and before the stumble. He had not shouted and considered the incident to be accidental. Rachael Blackmore explained the manner in which her mount had jumped right and stumbled before returning to a racing line. She added that she heard no call from any rider and was not aware of any incident. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards felt that in the particular circumstances of the incident, they did not apportion any blame to either rider and took no further action other than to advise Rachael Blackmore to ride with more awareness in the future. Dr. Frank Kenny, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.

Henry de Bromhead, trainer of Largy Debut, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries on the 28th December that his charge was found to have bled when examined post race.
