S. Foley, rider of Satin (GB) trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount caught a heel soon after leaving the stalls.

The Stewards enquired into an incident soon after the start and before the marker polls involving Ano Manna, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed sixth, and Satin (GB), ridden by S. Foley, a faller. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, S. Foley stated that his filly was having her first run, jumped sluggish and caught the heel of Ano Manna when holding the rails position. K.J. Manning stated that his mount jumped sluggish and he was three quarters of a length down when the field came across. Having viewed the recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that K.J. Manning was in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended K.J. Manning for two race days.
