The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Mr Rango, ridden by Adam Tracey, and trained by Ross O'Sullivan. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned and from John Sleator, authorised representative for the trainer. Adam Tracey, stated that his instructions were to jump off in the first 5 and do his best from there. He said he was slow to get his mount going when the stalls opened, as his mount hit him in the face with its head which momentarily dazed him, but confirmed that he was fine to continue riding and that this incident did not affect his ability to ride thereafter. He further expressed his own disappointment with the ride and stated that he was riding too short, got tired and should have finished third. Mr Sleator confirmed the instructions given and expressed his dissatisfaction with the ride. He outlined the riders previous inexperience and felt that despite this, he should have ridden better and was strongly of the view that the rider did not carry out his riding instructions and should have finished closer. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, who stated that Mr. Rango was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation of the trainer's authorised representative. They were however,of the opinion that Adam Treacy was in breach of Rule 212.A.(ii) and having considered his record, they suspended him for 10 racedays and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee. Furthermore, they suspended Mr. Rango for a period of 42 days in accordance with the provisions of Rule 212.C.(d) as a consequence of the riders actions. In arriving at their decision, the Stewards considered the inexperience of the rider and the incident at the stalls. They were satisfied that he had failed to fulfil his obligations to be seen to achieve his best possible place from timely, real and substantial efforts.
